Career

Hi, I am currently 19 male and I have completed my Diploma in Computer Engineering from a college named Pimpri Chinchwad Polytechnic in Pune. I have got 87.66% in the 5th semester and have 2 papers left for the 6th semester for my 3rd year. Just for information, the 5th and 6th semester's aggregate percentage are considered for the direct 2nd year admission for most BTech colleges. I want to pursue Computer Engineering only or some computer related fields. I also like the Electronic and Telecommunication field but fear that it may be too much since I have not studied any Maths for the last 3 years. What do you think I should pursue? Assuming in the worst case that the 6th semester marks still stay the same in the range of around 88-89%. I have worked hard this semester but we are talking in the worst case. What colleges or prospects could I get? Also, I have EWS category. I can apply from EWS category or from the Open category. I want colleges in Pune only.

Ans: Good to read about your good scores and ambitions. As long as you have interest in Maths you can make up for its absence in the last three years. Just be sure that you don't have a Maths phobia. Admission to BTech 2nd year is administered by a Central Admission Process and you have to apply online on the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test, Await your merit list and fill up options. Also make enquiries at the Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering as your Polytechnic is run by the same management.

I am giving mht cet this month I really started preparing too late because I was confused about what to do I was confused about my intrests Firstly I don't like and understand physics and chemistry only can deal with it at low level only basic But I like maths my maths is strong And I am interested in computer science and ai or something new creative and intresting As my preparation is now I can't aim for a top college I am aiming for an average government college in Pune Is computer science and ai or only computer science a good option long term perspective for future opportunities And if failed to get an engineering college What should I do Bsc computer science with online specialization courses is a ok option or not?if yes which colleges Or bsc statistics or mathematics? I will score 65 to 70 percentage in boards Please guide
Ans: Hello dear.
First, eliminate the myth that you won't be admitted to an engineering college. With an open mind, take the MHT-CET exam. There is no negative marking in this examination; therefore, answer the questions confidently. Even if you score low, you can gain admission to a top-tier private engineering college for your desired branch under the management quota, if your financial situation allows. If you prefer not to use the management quota, you can take part in the online counseling process to apply for CSE or a computer-related branch. In this case, you may have to compromise on the college you choose. Pursuing a B.Sc. in Computer Science or B.Sc. in Statistics/Mathematics lacks value since there are no campus placements for these courses. However, if you aim for a government job or wish to enter the teaching field, pursuing B.Sc. Statistics or Mathematics is a good option. It is advisable to enroll in any reputable private engineering college for your undergraduate studies and then pursue a postgraduate degree with a specialization. Additionally, over time, consider joining some online or offline courses for extracurricular activities. Best of luck with your upcoming examination and your future. Thank you! Money
I am 40 years old teacher, having 40 lakhs in FD and 2 lakhs in NSC, no debt and having property around 70 lakhs (Father's shop). No liability as I am single child of my parents. I am financially stable or I need to accumulate wealth.
Ans: Hi,

Financial stability needs to be defined for each individual based on their own preferences and perceptions.

You are a teacher and I assume you will continue your profession until retirement, this gives you opportunity to earn and save for future.

Your current investments are in a fixed income instruments which have the potential to only meet inflation needs for that amount. That means your money though increased over time will be having same purchasing power as it is today.
The property value in the future is a bit of difficult to estimate as it depends on many uncontrollable factors.
Hence we cannot determine if these amounts in the future are going to be able to meet your requirements without understanding your goals.

The approach you should follow is to look at what are your goals/requirements in life - during your working life and after retirement. This will require analysis of your current expenses and future goals to arrive at a corpus number.

A CFP can help you understand, plan and achieve this with a holistic financial plan. You will be provided with options and alternatives that are available and based on your profile/preferences, you will know what and how it can be achieved.
I recommend you take guidance form a CFP towards a holistic financial plan.

Thanks & Regards
