Sir my son completed MBBS from George now he wants to do MD please guide

Ans: Hi Harmit,

It's great to hear that your son has completed his medicine course. Please convey my greetings to him! Since he has studied medicine abroad, he will need to pass the licensure exam in India (FMGE). After clearing this exam, he must undergo an internship. Once he finishes the internship, he will be eligible to pursue higher education, such as an MD or MS.

If he has passed the licensure exam, he can then appear for the PG NEET. However, if he has not yet passed or even taken the licensure exam, I suggest he refer to the USMLE case study books to help him prepare.

That's my recommendation.

Career
Good day Sir. My son is in final year MBBS and shall graduate in 2025 and complete his compulsory internship in a April 2026 . He does not prefer Family Medicine or paediatric medicine and he has not finalized his passion for any particular stream yet. He wants to do his Masters from UK or USA. I understand USMLE is required for USA and PLAB is required for UK studies. My queries are : 1. What are expenses for completing USMLE and PLAB ? 2. What are possibilities of getting Residencies in USA / UK ? 3. Shall he require additional financial support after getting Residencies ? Pros and Cons of studies in both the countries ? 5. Any specific requirement for studies abroad ? 6. Finally, your suggestion as to where my son should do his Masters after completing his MBBS in India ? I shall appreciate your valuable guidance . Thanks and regards Sujit Roy
Ans: Hi Sujit,
Hello,

I am pleased to learn that your son will be completing his MBBS next year and is considering pursuing higher education. From your query, it seems that you are contemplating whether he should pursue his higher education abroad. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration before making a decision. Some of these factors include:

1. He will need to clear the USMLE or PLAB exams, which will require dedicated effort. Until he completes these exams, he will require both financial and moral support.

2. The specialization he is interested in pursuing is a crucial factor to consider.

3. The choice of university will also play a significant role, as it may impact the availability of financial aid.

4. Additionally, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of studying in the USA or the UK and make an informed decision based on the specifics of each country.

Ultimately, the decision about his higher education should be made based on your financial circumstances and the support that can be provided without undue strain.

But i feel USA is better option when compare to UK.

"All the best to your son for his future endeavors."

I take 2 partial drop with pursuing plain bsc I was preparing for NEET exam but I wasn't serious the way I should be and wasted whole two years now I am not able to understand what to do I am not able to see anything about my career after bsc I don't understand what to do
Ans: Ansika, Feeling lost after a partial drop and NEET preparation is common, but a BSc degree opens a wide array of career paths across science, healthcare, technology, data, and even management sectors. You can pursue higher studies such as an MSc for specialization in your field, MCA for a strong IT career, or an MBA to transition into business roles. Direct job opportunities after BSc include research assistant, lab technician, data analyst, clinical research associate, teacher, or roles in industries like pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and environmental science. Government sectors like forest services, agriculture, railways, and hospitals also recruit BSc graduates for technical and administrative roles. If you are unsure of your interests, consider a psychometric test to identify your strengths and aptitudes, or seek guidance from a career counselor to align your skills with emerging opportunities. Explore internships or short-term certifications to gain practical experience and confidence in your chosen field. Focus on your strengths, stay open to diverse opportunities, and remember that many successful professionals started with uncertainty—your BSc is a valuable foundation for multiple rewarding careers. All the BEST for your Prosperous Future!
