Sir, my son has completed his 12th, and we have blocked a seat in pes rr, ece branch. He has interest in civil related field that he has done a few things on his own to know more on that field, from grade 8,9, and talks about the roads, infrastructure etc. He knows and does by intuition how to fix things in the house, when they break. He has also done very small interfacing projects in electronics. We dont know which branch to choose? He has also enrolled in bs from iitm through jee adv. He took it up to gett a stronger foundation in programming in case he continues with ece. He likes that too. Kindly advise which branch he should choose in engg, he dooesnt want to take up a cs career, though. Thank you

Ans: Hi. Always respect the interests of our children. As you said and elaborated about him, you must opt for Civil Engineering where he will excel over CS / ECE. But you have blocked this seat in PES. A branch change option is available in 2nd year depending on the score of 1st year and the availability of seats in the respective branch. If the institution is ready to refund the maximum amount of fees as per their terms and conditions, then first choose the Civil seat in a good college and then leave PES. Forcefully doing CS/EEE is not at all recommended. Else wait for bs as he enrolled iitm via jee adv.
