Ans: If he is unsure about specialization, then CSE at RV University would be a better choice, as it gives a broader base. If he is sure about pursuing Data Science as a career, then Data Science at BIT Bangalore is also a good choice but a bit more specialized.

What could be Tax Value if profit of MF is appx 2 lacs ?? is tax deducted on 2 lacs profit Or deducting tax free limit of 1.25 Lacs i.e on balance 75000 profit ?

Ans: Assuming its a long term gain then your assumption is correct.

After deducting 1.25 Lacs, balance 75 K will invoke LTCG tax.

Can I avoid equity LTCG by investing in mother's name who has no other income?

Ans: You can do it but it can have some legal issues after your is mother is no more(May she be blessed with long life).

Your siblings, if any, can stake claim to get their share of assets held in the name of your mother, despite you being sole nominee.

So think through such eventualities and then do as you deem appropriate.

I have purchased a residential studio unit with home loan for 23 lacks in March 2022, I have got possession in May 2024 and in Aug2024 I have sold this unit to 31 lacks, What will be capital gain tax implications? Can I have claim Renovation, Maintenance, NOC charges (while selling) to be included while considering capital gain, to reduce capital gain, Where should i invest to save capital gain?

Ans: Date of possession will be considered as date of acquisition (May 24) so this will be short term capital gain taxable as per your slab rate.

Improvement & transfer expenses may be deducted from your capital gain(8L) but do consult a CA to ascertain exactly what is allowed as deductible as per Income Tax laws.

Ans: Yes You Can. However, you will have to clear the Foundation Program. The CS course has three stages:
Foundation Programme: An eight-month program for students who have passed Class 12
Executive Programme: A program for graduates in any stream (except Fine Arts)
Professional Programme: A program that can only be pursued after clearing the Executive Programme .

I am 48 and alost lost all my savings due to parents health and death. Want to save for retirement. Where i should invest with a target of 2 crs saving. I can save 40000 p.m

Ans: Hello;

No need to worry. You did your duty towards your parents.

You may invest 40K in flexicap type mutual fund(PPFAS flexicap fund)and large and midcap type mutual fund(Mirae Asset Large and Midcap fund)in equal proportion (50:50).

Also you should top-up your sip amount by 10% each year to reach your intended target in 12 years from now.

Else you may continue with flat 40 K monthly sip but in that you may have to postpone your retirement by 3 years beyond 60, if possible, so as to reach your corpus target of 2 Cr.

Funds have been recommended based on their returns in their respective category.

Ans: Focus on the repayment of the loan.

Also prioritize hikes in your income through value addition, if possible.

If you get some lumpsum(bonus) or other payment try to prepay the loan so as to reduce interest outgo.

I am presuming that this investment is from long term perspective of 10 years+ horizon and you are comfortable with high risk exposure.

Equal weight allocation to 10 funds is avoidable.

I propose to you 5 funds with the proportionate allocation as given:

1. PPFAS flexicap fund: 25%

2. Mirae Asset Large and Midcap fund: 25%

3. Nippon India Small cap fund: 20%

4. HDFC balanced advantage fund: 15%

5. ICICI Pru Multi asset allocation fund: 15%

Funds have been recommended based on their long term returns in their respective category.
