Career

Hi, I am 33 and a new mom. I have been earning 1.9 lakhs in hand per month till now. But I have an extremely toxic manager and there has been a recession in the education sector. Can I take a break and look for some other field? Will my decision affect me severely? I am currently doing PMI and hopefully will sit for the exam by Jan end. Do I have any prospect? Should I continue working in the toxic culture?

Ans: Hello
You have mentioned 'extremely toxic' hence it becomes imperative for you to move out at the earliest.
Ideally it is good to have something in hand but if it is taking longer than taking a break for focused effort towards alternative options is not a bad idea.
But do that with proper planning in terms of direction you wish to take, finances etc. & you will for sure find something meaningful.
Continue to deal with real bad work environment is certainly not advisable.

Hi Milind I am 52 years old single woman, from small town and who has worked hard ro reach to level in corporate with good salary. I have a corpus of about 5 crores and small flat in tier 2 town. I dont enjoy yhis new job wirh reputed brand and at a senior level as i dont find ut engaging or doing justice to role. My parents are old and i worry for rhem ans want to spent rkmw with them. With this corpus can i take a call to leave job and get decent income of atleast 2-2.5 lac a month. I have been quite action oriented, but now my mind and body feel exhasuted and also fear rhat without a job i will become lazy. Also living with parents will be a joy, at the same time resteictive to eating or socializing. I am quite concious ,if i leave this well paying ,senior role job with a big renonwed corporate which many of my friends aspired for and whole lot of people congratulated me ,they will think i was not able to justify my role,hence left . I dont want that impression at last stage of career as whole life i have been seen as hard working ,passionate professional. Such rhoughts are taking toll on my mental health. Please advise what should be done

With the corpus that you have (5 Cr) you may buy an immediate annuity from a life insurance company and can expect to receive monthly payout of 2.5 L (pre tax)from the very next month. 6% annuity rate considered, if you shop around and negotiate you may get a better rate.

You can opt for increasing annuity to account for inflation and return of purchase price to your nominee, after you.

Ensure good health insurance policy to cover yourself and your parents.

Think about some vocation which you would like to pursue passionately after retirement.

You are seeking retirement from regular 9 to 5 job not from pursuit of your passion/goals.

It could be in the role of an consultant, counselor or educator.

You should take the decision which you feel is appropriate for you irrespective of what people comment because they will comment in any case.

Learn to ignore such people.

I started working after my BTech graduation, in a software company since 2.5 yr in a testing role for manual and automation. I had started with development and was starting to get the grip of it but to some performance issues was put in pip and was put into testing role in the first year itself . Since then I am trying to get back to some learning but started to lose interest in development and I am getting scared to make a decison on which way to go now. I am slowly losing interest in my current role due to this and I don't seem to be able to regain focus and interest due to many not good experiences in this company . I am thinking to try something outside of software industry either banking or start pursuing data science and ml , is it the right way or am I not thinking right should I try to explore other fields . I see people around me upskilling in the current path in and I don't see myself wanting that . I want to move forward so please guide on how to regain interest to learn and make a decison on what to do next .

Sir, I am graduate in Electronics & communication Engg, having 13 years of experience in Telecom industry- project management and Operations & Maintenance. Left the job in 2019. Also did PGDBM(marketing) and NISM-Series-VIII: Equity Derivatives certified. My age is 43 yrs. Want to start my career again, but not in Telecom. Is there any option for me?

Ans: It seems to be you were more in management related job.At this age it is very difficult to switch.So you need to follow the same pattern of job as per my knowledge.You can take the views of other experts also.But at 43 it is difficult to take a U turn.Professor.

Sir, with warm regards, I am an scientist with two patented technologies which I created independently without support of any organisation or institutes. I assigned my patent (which was applied on my name while applying) to my own company which I formed later. Now both of them has been granted patent. I need your guidance as I have tripatriat agreement for manufacturing only and monetizing with other. The company for monetizing does not want to mention my company name or my name whereas all technical discussion etc is done by me. In this way they project me too as part of there company and hide that they are not actual the patentee of technologies which is illegal. Patented technologies are in Noble patents and inBiomedical engineering and agriculture, solar energy enhancement. Pls guide me.

Hi, I'm a parent of an Intermediate 2nd year State student who secured 99 percentile in JEE Mains first attempt. His interest likes in Aerospace Request you to suggest best study options admissions and career svope within India.

Ans: You need to do the required research for that.As far as career scope is concerned,it is a very specified line and without teaching only research organisation like ISSRO is there.But certainly in abroad the scope is much higher.I would suggest you to see the scope in the top level IITs.It is a very good branch,since the main stream is focused towards CS he will have better chance.Best of luck.Professor........:)
