Ans: Two and a half years of experience is an excellent start. You can use LinkedIn to apply for jobs. Set up job alerts according to your preferred area and experience. Continue applying to jobs that fit your profile on LinkedIn as soon as you receive notifications. If there aren't many work prospects where you are, try to leave if the situation calls for it. In order to stay competitive in the job market, it is also advisable to enroll in any correspondence course offered by a reputable university for an MBA in finance or an MCom, as well as to pursue online courses relevant to your field. Hi there - I am 45 and live overseas and am a foreign citizen and OCI. I am contemplating moving back to India due to family issues. As such, I will be unable to travel to work for at least 6 months to a year due to family issues and time to settle back. As I am in IT, and away from India since the last 15 years, I am not sure how to look for remote work? The ones I see on LinkedIn or other job sites offering remote work seem to be tailored to those moonlighting (as told me me by a recruiter) and offer very less. I work remotely aboard and have never had issues. I am wondering if there are any companies that offer remote work? I have high end skills, work as a solution architect in SAP and Microsoft Stack. To me it seems like high end tech skills have no takers in India as most of the work available in India seems to be low end tech or tailored as a cost center. I do not have management experience. However, I would be happy to be wrong. Appreciate your advise as I am unsure how the job market works in India.

Ans: If I hear you right, you plan to move to India and for the first 6 months you will need work from a remote location. It will be best for you to start application and interview process and get selected. Once you get selected for a job of your choice then propose to the employers if you can work remotely for some months to settle family issues. If they say no, ask them if you can join 6 months later. It is a process that you have to repeat. By an large there are few WFH job offers that were offered during pandemic.

If you have invested for the long term(7+ years) then you should not get bogged down by such short term market volatility and drawdowns causing negative returns.

However some allegations of unfair practices against Quant AMC have surfaced.

In the backdrop of these events you may move your investment to another fund in the same category.

Hi sir, I transfered 3 lakhs to my friend in 2023 as loan through bank transfer. If he repay that without any interest in 2024, should I pay income tax?

Ans: You should get the amount back through banking channel only. You would have to pay any tax on it, since this is not your income, but just return of temporary loan without interest, to your friend.

Ans: Grandfather can gift any amount to his grandson, which shall not be taxable in the hands of grandson. As suggested Gifted amount should only be through banking channels.
IT Department can demand an explanation (u/s 68) from the grandson & he needs to explain this entry, to the satisfaction of assessing officer.

I am looking for saving tax from my income ,FD & MF interest. Salary 22L, FD 60L, MF 25L. Please advise.

Ans: 01. Let me confirm your figures as, Salary Income Rs.22L, Interest from FDR Rs. 60L & MF Gains Rs. 25L.
02. Kindly avail normal tax savings like, u/s 80-C, Mediclaim u/s 80D, Pension Plan etc.
03. Besides above you would also be getting Standard Deduction from Salary (Rs,75,000.00), Rebate from Interest Income (Rs,10,000.00) & Exempt amount from LTCGs (Rs,1,25,000.00), if income from MFs is covered under Long Term Capital Gains.
03. You need tax planning in advance. You may shift some of your investments in Residential Property by taking some amount of loan also. Interest & repayment of loan would further add to your tax planning, besides it may give you benefit of appreciation in its value. If your income from MFs is by selling some units/shares, you may probably shift Selling of these funds by few months & shift LTCG to next financial year.

Ans: No. You son won't be liable to pay any income tax on this transaction, since this is a loan not an income of your son. You are advised to complete this transaction through banking channels only.

I have been doing SIP in an equity mutual fund of Rs 2000 in an equity mutual fund from Jan 2020 to Feb 2023. The total amount has grown to 1.25 Lakh. If I make full withdrawl, how will my capital gains be taxed?

Ans: This transaction would be covered under LTCG. However, there is exemption of Rs.1,25,000.00 from LTCG & amount of your LTCG may be even less than this amount, hence no tax may be payable on this.
