Career
Hi im currently in 12th. Preparing for JEE mains and advanced. As of now scoring around 190 to 210 in jee mains in my school exams and 180 to 210 in jee advanced. Little confused to choose colleges. Im from chennai.. im applying for JEE. I wanted to apply other colleges for safer side. Apart from BITS,VIT, SNU, Manipal which other best options were there. Like IIIT hyderabad, which other institutes conduct exams/admission seperately
Ans: Ashwin, you haven’t mentioned which coaching institute’s mock or practice tests you are taking to score 180+. Nevertheless, your score is excellent, and you seem to be on the right track. Coming to your question, you have already shortlisted good options, including JEE-based admissions, BITS, VIT, SNU, Manipal and IIIT Hyderabad. In addition, you can consider IIIT Bangalore through your JEE score, ISI Admission Test if you have a strong interest in Statistics, and CMI Admission Test if you genuinely enjoy Mathematics, logical reasoning, abstract thinking and scientific problem-solving. Please note that CMI is not a conventional engineering college; its undergraduate programmes focus on Mathematics and scientific disciplines. If you are genuinely interested in scientific research, you can also consider KIITEE as a backup option, Amrita’s AEEE, COMEDK of Karnataka and IISER’s IAT. My suggested order of preference would be: (1) JEE-based options, depending on your rank and the institutes available; (2) IIIT Hyderabad through UGEE or JEE Main, depending on the programme and admission route; (3) BITS, if the fees are affordable; (4) IIIT Bangalore through JEE Main; (5) SNU, preferably its main campus at Shiv Nadar University, Chennai (Kelambakkam), subject to the programme offered; (6) ISI, if Statistics is your primary interest; (7) COMEDK of Karnataka (8) CMI, if Mathematics is your strong interest; (9) VIT; (10) KIIT through KIITEE, as a backup; (11) Amrita through AEEE; and (12) IISER through IAT, if you wish to pursue research-oriented science programmes. Remember that this is a broad preference order, not a universal ranking. Your final choice should depend on your JEE performance, preferred branch, genuine academic interests, fees and career goals. All The Best for Your Prosperous Future!
