Career
Hi Sir, I have got CSE core at thapar. But I have seen a lot of negative sentiment against thapar recently. What are the reasons behind it? Is thapar worth it in 2026? How are the placements, peer quality & overall status of Thapar right now? I have 96.83 in Jee mains & 2840 rank in comedk. Should I look for other options like mid-lower IIITs (CSE at IIIT kottayam, dharwad, ranchi, bhubaneshwar, kurnool, Bhagalpur etc. IT at Bhopal, sonepat. ECE at IIIT Nagpur, Vadodra) CSE/ECE achievable at my rank (49700 rank in jee) in CSAB counselling or should I go for comedk colleges like MS Ramaiah, BMSCE CSE and CSE specializations etc or just go with Thapar? Also could you give me some data about the average, median packages and % of students placed at Thapar COPC, COE.Thanks a lot sir for your time.
Ans: HI,
GREETINGS FROM THE REDIFFGURUS!
First of all, try to forget about placements and salary packages for now. If you are very strong academically, you can secure a job easily during campus placements. The institution provides a platform for you to showcase your abilities and allows you to analyze who your competitors are, as they come from the same institution. So, don’t worry; just focus on maximizing your potential. When it comes to reviews, reliable information is often hard to come by. If you really want to know more about the institutions you are interested in, visit their websites and analyze the faculty members (their experience and research areas) and the percentage of staff turnover. This method is more effective than relying on others' opinions. Always aim to join any course through competitive exams, as this will benefit your future job prospects after completing the course. Securing a seat in a national institute is generally preferable compared to private institutions, so make sure to participate in the counseling process until it’s complete.

Secure admission to IIIT through counseling and participate in CSAB rounds. If you get your desired branch, then release the other admission (IIIT).

This is my recommendation.

BEST WISHES.
