For the past few months, I spend a lot of time in the social media scrolling. I took 3 days leave from the office to fix this. Yet, those 3 days went by scrolling the social media. Help me please.
Ans: Dear Sri,
You can take as many days leave of absence, you are going to fall prey to your addiction; yes!
To quit, first give the phone to someone...it's going to be really difficult, but that's a start...set a plan to first distract yourself by spending time with friends and family...
Distraction is just exactly what it is; temporary...so to make a close to a permanent change, you will have to set yourself up with larger than life goals and start to dull your past behaviors that were not useful and became addictive. Obviously scrolling gives you something, what is it? Stress reliever? Boredom reliever? Can these not find a better way that social media? Find what can relieve stress or boredom or whatever it is that you are trying to do...New behaviors have to be learned to replace the old ones!
If this is seeming difficult, go to a therapist who can actually help you in a few sessions.
All the best!
