Hello Mayank Sir, My son is in 11th Commerce, along with his boards he is also preparing for IPMAT entrance, my question is doing BBA and MBA through this route , will it be good choice or he should prepare for CAT instead please advise? I heard that degree valuation of students completing MBA through IPMAT and CAT is different when it comes to recruitment ?is it true?

Ans: Hello,
Through IPMAT your son will get into 5 years integrated program at IIM. And yes there will be different companies for placements for both categories. The degrees are from IIM only and if you are valuing the degree from CTC then yes there will be a difference. Getting into IIM through CAT is a bit tough.

I am a Chartered Accountant with 10 years of experience in Financial control domain. Currently in the mid to senior level role in the current organisation. My aspiration is to be the CFO of a mid to large company and finally lead the business at the CEO. To make the next move I wish to do a PGPPRO with ISB. It’s an EMBA with physical session which will help me have the brand, Alumni status and open the doors for strategy and M&A kind of consulting. But they don’t have any job assistance or placement programs. The cost of the same is 36 lakhs. Need guidance whether this is worth considering that I always wanted to do an MBA after by CA but couldn’t do it due financial limitations.
Ans: Hello,

I can understand your career aspirations and the dilemma you're facing regarding further education to advance your career. Pursuing an EMBA, such as the PGPPRO program at ISB, can indeed provide you with valuable knowledge and skills that are relevant to your goal of becoming a CFO and eventually leading a company as a CEO.

The program's physical sessions can offer you a networking opportunity, brand recognition, and an alumni status that can potentially open doors for strategic roles and M&A consulting engagements. However, it's important to consider certain factors before making a decision.

Firstly, since the program doesn't provide job assistance or placement programs, you'll need to rely on your existing network and professional experience to leverage the benefits of the program. It's crucial to evaluate whether you have the necessary connections and opportunities to capitalize on the program's advantages.

Secondly, the cost of the program, at 36 lakhs, is a significant investment. You should carefully assess your financial situation and consider whether the potential benefits and opportunities outweigh the financial burden. It may be helpful to research alternative options, such as other reputable EMBA programs with similar objectives, which may have a more favorable cost structure or provide job assistance.

Lastly, reflect on your long-term career goals and whether obtaining an EMBA aligns with your overall plan. Consider if the knowledge and skills gained from the program will substantially enhance your prospects for attaining the CFO and CEO roles you aspire to, or if there are alternative paths to achieve these goals.

It would be wise to consult with professionals who have pursued similar paths, such as experienced CFOs or executives, to gain their insights and perspectives. They can provide valuable guidance based on their own experiences and help you make an informed decision.

Overall, while the PGPPRO program at ISB can potentially provide you with valuable benefits and opportunities, it's essential to carefully weigh the cost, the lack of job assistance, and the alignment with your long-term career goals before making a final decision.

My son is now in Class XII Commerce in a CBSE school. He has an ambition of doing MBA from a good Management School. He got 90% in class X of CBSE. Please advise, from career perspective, if he should pursue for B Com or BBA course after his completing the Class XII exam . Please advise the Entrance tests he should pursue to get admission into Institute of repute for the courses , i.e. B COM and BBA. Regards.
Ans: Choosing between B.Com and BBA depends on your son's interests and long-term career goals. Both courses can lead to a successful career in business and management, but they have different approaches and specializations.

B.Com is a more traditional and broader course that focuses on various aspects of commerce and finance. It covers subjects like accounting, economics, taxation, finance, marketing, and business law. It provides a strong foundation in accounting and finance, making it suitable for those interested in pursuing careers in fields like chartered accountancy, banking, finance, or tax consultancy.

BBA is a management-oriented course that focuses on the principles and practices of business management. It covers subjects like marketing, human resources, operations management, organizational behavior, and entrepreneurship.

If your son is specifically interested in management and wants to develop a deeper understanding of management principles right from the undergraduate level, BBA could be a better choice.

As for entrance tests for reputable institutes, here are some of the common entrance exams for BBA/MBA courses:
1. Common Entrance Test (CET): Many states in India conduct their own CET for admission to BBA/MBA programs in state universities and colleges.
2. All India Management Association Undergraduate Aptitude Test (AIMA UGAT): This exam is for admission to various undergraduate programs like BBA, BCA, Integrated MBA, etc.
3. Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET): Conducted by Symbiosis International University, SET is the entrance test for various undergraduate programs, including BBA.
4. Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET): Conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, this exam is for admission to various undergraduate courses, including BBA.
5. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT): For admission to Xavier University's BBA program.
6. CUET (Ofcourse)

My grandmother has Parkinson's and got a tube in her nose that extends to her stomach that so we can inject liquids easily as she completely avoids eating food and doesn't even swallow a sip of water. She snatched the tube out of her nose completely and now it cannot be used again. We cannot keep a check on her for full 24 hours but we try our best. Please suggest anything to avoid the snatching as once a tube has been taken out it cannot be re-inserted. And please one more thing that she keeps wetting the bed despite of using diapers. The diaper always leaks out and then my mom has to clean grandmother, her clothes, the bed sheets etc. She gets tired by doing this twice a day as it is a lot of work. Pls suggest something about the bed wetting to how to minimise it. She is around 70 kgs and cannot even get up herself so my mom has to pull her out of the bed which requires a lot of strength. My mom feels pain in her back and shoulder a lot. All of this happening around the house is too much. I will be grateful if you reply.
Ans: To avoid bed wetting you need to make her wear the correct size diaper. Undersheets can be used as an added protection.
Normally soaking happens if we do not change the diaper adequately.
Please ask your Mom to do some upper body work outs through a physios, help.
With respect to the Ryle's tube, it is an irritant that one gets used to. If your Grandmom does not like it and non cooperative not much can be done. But you could check up with her Physician if now and then Parenteral nutrition can be given by hospitalising her
