My son is 4.6 Year old .He is having speech Delay ...We are taking his Speech Therapy but minimum changes .He used to speak numbers earlier but now he is not learning numbers ..I Am deeply worried..We have also consulted Occupational Therapist.

Kind attention Rediff Gurus : My 2 year old son clearly speaks Mummy and Papa but struggles to talk/utter other things. We are also not able to understand what exactly he wants and then he starts crying badly. Does he need any medical attention. My elder son started talking when he was just 1.5 years old. Kindly suggest

Ans: When the language does not develop in time,the child develops other alternative ways to communicate.
Since the child has a behaviour of crying to get the things, it is a clear indication that child s behaviour is unknowingly getting reinforced by providing the desired items. Start with the labelling of things by giving him appropriate words so that he understands that he can use the words instead of crying.
Also monitor how much screen time is being given to him.
Development of language happens only when the child has the pre-requisites , check that too.

Hello Anu, I have 5 year boy who started talking very late around 4 years age, He is now in nursery class learning alphabets and numbers but he developed skill of solving double/triple digit numbers addition and multiplication by his own and his teacher are also confused how he is able to solve addition and small multiplication by himself without counting only thinking and answering in seconds. He is also physically not strong like 5 year boy. Kindly help regarding his behavior.

Ans: He has good cognitive skills and hence he is able to grasp his academic concepts well.
Whereas the delay in other milestone can be due to various reasons. If there are any sort of help required to take care of developmental delays, you should start working on it with early intervention by consulting a child psychologist or developmental paediatrician. It will require proper assessment.

My son is 2 years 2 months old. He weighs about 11 kg now and is pretty active. We are worried about his speech delay. He is not saying any words. He is only blabbering and trying to make sounds like 'appa' 'oooo' 'abba' and 'mamama'. He screams and says nothing else. We have shown him to a peadtrician, ENT and psychiatrist. They say it's normal. We have also done BERA test and result were normal. Doctors have advised us to reduce screen time for the baby and train him at home. As prescribed by doctors we are giving him omega 3 syrup and Iron supplements. Is there anything we are missing out on? Should we be worried? Is there any other specialist that we should consult. Kindly guide us.

Ans: Screen time for a 2 year old should be zero
Read stories to him, show him charts and books with single words with pictures. No tv too even during meal times. No mobiles or tablets at all
A speech therapist will be able to help

My grand son is now 5 Yes. old. He is healthy and active but he does not speak. Though he has no hearing problem but does not respond when we try to alert him. He is taken to a place in Goregaon for more than 6 months for speech therapy but there is no distinct progress towards his speaking skill. We need the advice & opinion of an expert in this matter so that he may start speaking and communicate with others. We are much worried about his schooling which is getting delayed. My question to expert is to find a suitable speech therapist for my child who may be helpful in this regard. Thanks.

Ans: You can visit a hospital and consult a developmental pediatrician for further testing

Sir, I'm a student of btech CSE(Artificial intelligence and machine learning) in aktu. Actually when i took admission i didn't get CSE(core branch), so i ended up with this course. Now , I'm confused should i change my branch after the 1st year through your cgp. Or should i stay in this branch. I am afraid of not having enough opportunities in this branch as compared to the CSE(core) in terms of placements. Is that so?

If you are having an option to make a change then please do. However continuing in your branch will not have any significant impact on your future prospects...as all the allied streams like AI ML, Data Science have similar subjects like core CS.

i have just recently joined our community services and holding official position also there. our community is basically immature and politics driven, few only interested in designation, lack of transparency etc. As far as myself is concern i am only interested to work by system/transparency without any politics.
