I am working in an Organization for the last 5 years without any increment. I have been offered a position in a different company with a 15% hike. The current organization where I am currently working is very easy going with flexible timings and work from home options and I have my own freedom to run the branch. Am confused whether I should shift or not as the new role offered to me in the different Company will be full of challenges. Money is not so much of an issue as I have other sources of income as well.

Hi Mayank,I am facing a dilemma. I have to choose between two job options -- the existing one and the new offer which I got some 15 days back.Currently, I am in the teaching field in a coaching institute which is in my native place where I live with parents (they don't want to move to a new place and I need to see them).I have another job offer in a metropolitan city which is very far from my native place (2,000 km). Though it is in a reputed institute, it is for the same teaching position.Now, I am confused as to whether I should continue in my present job or take up the new job.I love teaching and both jobs offer almost same salary and same position. But the opportunity for growth is better in the new company.At the same time, I don’t want leave my parents and they don't want shift with me to the new place.I am totally confused, please help me to decide.ThanksGeetu

Hello Sir,I am Abhishek, age 41, working in an MNC from last six years, as principal design engineer, electrical, in Mumbai.I am a resident of Pune with my family settled there.I have 18 years of experience in electrical design and PLC (programmable logic controller) automation industry.But due to office politics and partial behaviour from management, I am dead in my career.I am also getting very less opportunity in PLC automation, hence no new skills additions in my professional area.I tried hard to change my job but couldn't get any. I also discussed with my manager about my goals and wish to work on PLC automation, but didn't get any major opportunities.Recently I have got another opportunity in Pune but will have to travel more to foreign locations. I have to travel in my current job as well but the new company is offering better designation, better salary and better opportunities for me to work with new technologies in PLC automation.However, it is a very small Indian organisation compared to my current MNC I work for.I am in dilemma whether I should take up the new job or not?What is your advice?Thanks,Abhishek

Hello Expert, I am 45 years male and working with one software company since last 13 years (total experience is 20 years) , recently I got the offer from other company (earlier I worked as consultant) at almost 30% hike from my present salary. I know most of the employee from the company as previously I worked with them. The reason for looking the opportunity is I felt that my manager is ignoring me and giving opportunity to others. I am a graphic designer however I am promoted to Quality advisor in design, now this role is only available in my organisation, there is no similar or same role available for Quality advisor, I am working in this company from last 7 years, now I am willing to change company as my salary is only 5.6LPA I started from 8k/month however based on current inflation I want more salary so i want to switch, There is only Sr graphic designer role available but now I am not willing to work as a graphic designer, I have a interest in Video editing and Ui/ux but I am not sure that I will get the same salary in the market as I have no prior experience also I am married so I have responsibilities as well. Please suggest what to do? I know in order to reach 7-8 lpa I have to switch because it will take 2-4 year's in my company to reach there.

Iam 35 years old working in reputed pvt steel and power sector. Worked in power plant operations for 13 years suddenly my employer organize promotion exam in which I selected told you will be placed in power project which I agree as behind operation I will learns also about its Project. But after promoting placed in civil project in Amenities which is different area not being interest in that job. I discussed with Higher management told as per buisness requirment you have to here for 3 years compulsory after that you will be changed.So in that period I will forgot my area interest and all my 13yrs exp will go in vain. iam getting offer from small pvt sector for my core area. So sir shall I switch or stick to it as it secure job.
