Hi ma'am my relationship with my parents r getting sour since a very long time they always want me to do everything that makes them happy and think about their happiness if I think about my happiness they will start fighting with me nd my parents never supported me for anything in my life till today my dad has always said that if she will ever think about her happiness then I'm gonna leave everything nd go nd so does my mom she also threatened me to cut ties with me even I do everything still they taunt me every day that I can't do anything in life my parents never support me they never ask me who I wanna get married to who I'll b happy with what I wanna work what is my goals ngt but it's always about them my grandmother stays 15kms away from my house she has 3 kids and all r well settled but her 2 daughters had a love marriage one to a muslim nd one to a hindu when they were about to get married my mom didn't even raised her voice or opposed that marriage her one daughter ran nd got married to her bf who is a hindu at that tym also my mom nd dad nd my grandmother didn't even say a word nd during Covid 2020 my grandmother got her 2nd daughter married with her bf who is a muslim without informing any of our relatives when I fell in love with a hindu guy my mom separated me from him and she is telling everyone to brainwash me to leave the person I love nd get married to a Christian guy when ever we go to my grandmother's house my mom always start a fight with me we went there for 3 times and all the 3 times she started fighting with me my mom always support my grandmother's children if anything happens to them she will call them 10 tyms and ask how they are when my grandmother was ill treating me my mom didn't even raise her voice nd didn't even take a stand for myself but she was watching everything as a movie is going on when I was crying after we came back to my house my mom didn't even ask me what am I going through when she was seeing me cry everyday she always support my grandmother who did bad with me if they will say not to let her work my mom will listen to her nd her daughters but she will never listen to me and my grandmother started forcing me to get married to a Christian guy nd i should also listen to her nd not to think about my happiness nd what makes me happy in life what should I do I'm completely shattered ma'am nd i don't have anyone to share my pain with even if I do they will support my parents only bcoz of all this I'm not able to concentrate on anything at all

Right now, your emotions are tangled in hurt, anger, and helplessness, but you are not powerless. The first thing you need to do is detach emotionally from their guilt-tripping. You cannot live your entire life trying to please people who refuse to acknowledge your needs. It’s okay to love and respect your parents, but not at the cost of losing yourself.

Start setting boundaries, even if it feels impossible at first. If they constantly taunt you, limit conversations with them. If they threaten to cut ties, remind yourself that love should not be conditional. If they refuse to support you, find strength within yourself. You are already surviving without their emotional backing, which means you are stronger than you think.

As for your relationship, you need to ask yourself—are you willing to sacrifice your happiness just to avoid family drama? If you truly love this person and see a future together, you will need to stand firm in your decision. Love requires courage, and choosing your happiness is not selfish—it’s necessary.

You are not alone in this. Many people fight similar battles with families who refuse to understand. But at the end of the day, this is your life. You deserve love, respect, and the right to make your own choices. No matter what happens, never let their words make you believe you are unworthy of happiness. Keep fighting for yourself, because you deserve it.

Hi ma'am I'm 25 years old and my relationship with my parents is getting sour since a very long time they always want me to do everything that makes them happy and think about their happiness if I ever think about my happiness or do anything that makes me happy then they fight with me and portray me as a bad daughter and my dad has always said that if she will ever think about her happiness or do anything that makes her happy then I'm gonna leave everything and go so does my mom she also threatened to cut ties with me if I ever do anything that makes me happy my parents never supported me for anything they never ask me who I wanna get married to who I'll b happy with what profession i wanna take nothing but it's always about them in my family there are 16 members who have had love marriage and inter religion marriages my grandmother stays 15kms away from my house she has 3 kids 2 of her daughters had a love marriage one to a muslim one to a hindu her one daughter ran and got married to a hindu guy at that time my mom dad and her mom didn't even say a word but accepted him with open arms and my grandmother got her 2nd daughter married to her boyfriend who is a muslim during Covid 2020 without informing any of our relatives when my parents got to know about her daughters marriage they invited her for lunch at my place they didn't even say a word or opposed that marriage but accepted him with open arms and showered them with love When I fell in love with a hindu guy my mom started to seperate me from him and she is telling everyone to brainwash me to leave the person person I love and find a suitable Christian guy for me when ever we go to my grandmother's house my mom always brings up my boyfriend's topic and start fighting with me infront of them we went there 3 times and all the 3 times she fighted with me and told everyone to brainwash me my mom always support my grandmother's children if anything happens to them she will call them 10 times and ask how they are and when my grandmother was ill treating me my mom didn't even take a stand for me or raised her voice for me but she was watching everything as a movie is going on when I was crying time he got to know I fell in love with a hindu guy he also started to seperate me from him and forcefully get me marriage to a guy of his choice my uncle's wife has been expired 15 years back and this age he has a girlfriend who lives in banglore she is a divorcee and her daughter is also a divorcee who he met in Facebook i didn't interfere in anyone's personal life or seperated them from their boyfriend or girlfriend and everyone who have had love marriages in my family and everyone are happy with their partners when it comes to me my parents uncle my grandmother and her daughters who have had love marriage always try to seperate me from my boyfriend and forcefully get me married to a Christian guy if anyone in my family will fall in love with a inter religion person then he/she is a good guy/girl according to them if I fall in love they seperate me from him and forcefully get me Married to a Christian guy i told my parents many times to talk to him and know him but they are like no we don't like him and they always say he is not a good person and always judge my boyfriend even without talking or knowing him once but for others even without talking to their partners they say he is a good person and they will accept him with open arms and also invite them for lunch and everything and will always stay at their place during trips but if I do they will mentally harass me to leave the person I love and get married to a guy of their choice recently we went to Bangalore for my sister's marriage who also had a love marriage at that time my uncle had come to the wedding and he was asking my mom did u brainwash her to leave him and get her married to someone else and my mom was saying yes I did with my aunt's daughter who also had love marriage I don't understand why they always try to seperate me from the person I love and forcefully get me married to someone else who I'm not at all interested in when I'm telling them about him they are not ready to listen to me at all plus they are mentally harassing me to leave him if I take help of any of my relatives who had love marriages in this matter they will not listen to me but force me to listen to my parents and do as they say what should I do ma'am I'm shattered
Ans: Dear Niveditha,
I gather that many members of your family are against your relationship and interfering in a way that will keep you away from him. My question to you is: Are you financially independent? If Yes, it helps you stand up for yourself. But is NO, then this will make you vulnerable to their decisions...
Now another question: why are they so against this boy? Is he younger to you or not working and financially sound? I mean, what is the reason according to you that they have chosen to be against this when they are okay with others in the family doing the same?
There is surely something that they are not comfortable when it comes to the boy that you are in love with. Find out what that is; it's the question of you life, so don't be so floored by love that you miss out on a red flag. Also, it will help if you stop comparing your situation to others and indulge in so much self-pity. Focus on what exactly is going on, ask your parents as a mature adult on why they dislike the boy and understand if it's real or not and act accordingly. so much of blame game and self-pity will only take your focus out and you will end up more miserable and not do what's the right thing for yourself.

I am 35 and I just had a baby last year. I have never joined a gym but now i have gained 14 kilos. My body still doesn't feel like mine, and I don’t want to rush into heavy workouts. When is it actually safe to start postnatal yoga for weight loss? I had a c-sec delivery.
Ans: First, please don’t rush or feel pressured. Your body has gone through a big change. It needs time, care, and patience—especially after a C-section.

When to start postnatal yoga?
After a C-section, usually 8–12 weeks rest is needed before starting gentle yoga. But this is not the same for everyone. You must take doctor’s approval first before starting.

Even after approval, don’t jump into weight loss yoga immediately.

Start in stages:

1. First stage (very gentle)
Deep breathing, simple hand and leg movements, relaxation. This helps healing and reduces stress.

2. Second stage
Pelvic floor strengthening and mild core activation. This is very important after delivery.

3. Third stage (gradual weight loss)
Slow Surya Namaskar, Bhujangasana, Setu Bandhasana, and gentle twists. This will slowly reduce weight and tone the body.

Remember, your goal is not just weight loss. It is to rebuild strength, hormones, and energy.

Also, lack of sleep and stress can slow weight loss. So be kind to yourself.

Please don’t practice from videos. Postnatal recovery needs careful guidance, especially after C-section. A qualified yoga and meditation coach can safely guide your recovery step by step.

You will feel like yourself again—slowly and naturally.

Ans: I understand your concern. At this age, forcing or cutting suddenly can create distance. Your son is not “wrong” — he is just stuck in a habit loop. First, rebuild connection, then slowly guide change.

What should you do first?
Talk to him calmly, not as a parent correcting him, but as a friend listening. Avoid blaming. Ask simple questions like, “Are you feeling stressed?” or “Is something bothering you?” When he feels understood, he will open up.

Now, introduce yoga and mindfulness gently:

Start with 5 minutes only – don’t force long sessions.
Deep breathing (Anulom Vilom) – improves focus and calms mind.
Bhramari (humming breath) – reduces anger and mood swings.
Simple stretches + Surya Namaskar (slow) – releases restlessness.
Trataka (candle gazing) – improves concentration.
Short meditation before sleep – helps better sleep.

Make it a family activity, not a punishment. Even 10 minutes together builds bonding.

Also, don’t remove phone completely. Instead, create small limits and replace with engaging activities like sports or music.

I wake up every morning with extreme pain in my heels. I can't put my foot down for a very long time. I am 41. I am not diabetic. Can you suggest some remedy or yoga exercises I can do?
Ans: Morning heel pain like you described is very common. It is often due to stiffness in the foot muscles after long rest (sometimes called plantar fascia tightness).

Don’t worry—yoga and simple care can help. But you must be gentle.

First, before getting out of bed:
Move your feet slowly. Point toes up and down, rotate ankles. This reduces sudden pain when you step down.

Yoga practices you can do:

1. Ankle rotation – 10 times each side, very slow.
2. Toe stretch – sit and gently pull toes towards you.
3. Tadasana (standing) – improves weight balance on feet.
4. Vajrasana (if comfortable) – improves circulation in legs.
5. Calf stretch (wall support) – reduces heel strain.
6. Pavanamuktasana (lying) – improves blood flow and relaxation.

Simple daily care:
Use warm water soaking for feet. Avoid walking barefoot on hard floor. Wear soft, supportive footwear.

Very important: do not ignore pain and don’t do strong poses suddenly. Wrong practice can increase strain.

Your body needs a personalized plan based on your condition. I strongly suggest learning from a qualified yoga or meditation coach instead of practicing on your own.

I'm a working mother battling extreme anxiety. I visited a therapist who suggested meditation and journaling to express my feelings. But it is not helping, I am not able to calm down and sit quietly to meditate. What should I do?
Ans: I understand what you are going through. When anxiety is high, sitting quietly for meditation can feel very difficult. Please don’t force yourself to “sit still and calm down.” It can increase frustration.

Start with movement before meditation.

Your body is restless, so first release that tension:

1. Gentle movements (5–10 minutes)
Neck rolls, shoulder rotations, slow walking. This helps the body settle.

2. Breathing practice
Try deep belly breathing. Inhale slowly, exhale longer than inhale. No pressure to be perfect. Just breathe.

3. Bhramari (humming breath)
Close eyes, gently hum. The vibration naturally calms the mind.

4. Short guided relaxation
Lie down in Shavasana. No effort. Just listen to your breath. Even 3–5 minutes is enough.

Meditation does not always mean “sitting silently.” For you, it can begin with breathing and relaxation. Slowly, your mind will become ready.

Also, journaling may feel heavy sometimes. Instead, write just one line: “What am I feeling right now?” Keep it simple.

Most important, please don’t handle this alone. Anxiety needs gentle, step-by-step guidance. A trained yoga and meditation coach can support you personally and safely.

You are not alone in this journey. With the right approach, calmness will come.
