I AM 75 YRS OLD. DIABETIC. Hb1ac 7.7. Taking Gycinorm 80mg 2--2--0 and .....,. Jalra ..,..............50 0-- 1--1 night Fastiing------------80 to 96 But Postprandial -----190 Please Advise. Thanks.

Ans: The reason for high post-prandial sugar is usually what u have eaten in the meal.

Try and reduce the carbs(roti/rice/bread) and include more protein in the meal.

Also, post meal 15-20min of relaxed walk also helps in managing the post-prandial blood sugars, along with the dietary changes

I m 67 years age and my hba1c is 10.2 and fasting sugar is 243 I m taking insulin 12 units of Novo Rapid flexi pen 3 times In a day morning, afternoon and night before food and Toujio 12 units at 5 pm.

Ans: It is advisable to consult your physician about your insulin dosage as your blood sugar levels are very out of range. Dietary modifications can include foods like complex carbohydrates like whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, oats), legumes, and vegetables. Include healthy fats like avocados, nuts, and olive oil and lean proteins like fish, poultry, tofu, and beans. Limit sugary foods, refined carbs, and saturated fats and stay physically active.

Requesting you not to panic at this early stage. Let her appear for JEE session 2 and the state-level engineering entrance test. Let all the results out. You have ample time to think about the available options for engineering admission. At this stage, no need to think about management quota unless and until you want a particular branch in a particular college. Depending on her score in upcoming exams, she may get admission to reputed engineering either in Pune or Bengaluru
