Jee main 2025 attempt 1 my daughter score 89.55 percentile with delhi state quota. What is their expected rank and govt college she got
Ans: Ravish Sir,

How to Predict Your Daughter's Chances of Admission into NIT or IIIT or GFTI After JEE Main Results – A Step-by-Step Guide

Once the January JEE Main session results are declared, many students and JEE applicants start asking common questions about eligibility for specific institutes (NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, etc.) based on their percentile, category, preferred branch, and home state.

Providing precise admission chances for each student can be challenging. Some reputed educational websites offer ‘College Predictor’ tools where you can check possible college options based on your percentile, category, and preferences. However, for a more accurate understanding, here’s a simple yet effective 9-step method using JoSAA’s past-year opening and closing ranks. This approach gives you a fair estimate (though not 100% exact) of your admission chances based on the previous year’s data.

Step-by-Step Guide to Check Your Daughter's Admission Chances Using JoSAA Data
Step 1: Collect Your Daughter's Key Details
Before starting, note down the following details:

Your JEE Main percentile
Your category (General-Open, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, PwD categories)
Preferred institute types (NIT, IIIT, GFTI)
Preferred locations (or if you're open to any location in India)
List of at least your daughter's 3 preferred academic programs (branches) as backups (instead of relying on just one option)
Step 2: Access JoSAA’s Official Opening & Closing Ranks
Go to Google and type: JoSAA Opening & Closing Ranks 2024
Click on the first search result (official JoSAA website).
You will land directly on JoSAA’s portal, where you can enter your daugther's details to check past-year cutoffs.
Step 3: Select the Round Number
JoSAA conducts five rounds of counseling.
For a safer estimate, choose Round 4, as most admissions are settled by this round.
Step 4: Choose the Institute Type
Select NIT, IIIT, or GFTI, depending on your preference.
If your daughter is open to all types of institutes, check them one by one instead of selecting all at once.
Step 5: Select the Institute Name (Based on Location)
It is recommended to check institutes one by one, based on your preferred locations.
Avoid selecting ‘ALL’ at once, as it may create confusion.
Step 6: Select Your Daughter's Preferred Academic Program (Branch)
Enter the branches you are interested in, one at a time, in preferred order.
Step 7: Submit and Analyze Results
After selecting the relevant details, click the ‘SUBMIT’ button.
The system will display Opening & Closing Ranks of the selected institute and branch for different categories.
Step 8: Note Down the Opening & Closing Ranks
Maintain a notebook or diary to record the Opening & Closing Ranks for each institute and branch you are interested in.
This will serve as a quick reference during JoSAA counseling.
Step 9: Adjust Your Expectations on a Safer Side
Since Opening & Closing Ranks fluctuate slightly each year, always adjust the numbers for safety.
Example Calculation:
If the Opening & Closing Ranks for NIT Delhi | Mechanical Engineering | OPEN Category show 8622 & 26186 (for Home State), consider adjusting them to 8300 & 23000 (on a safer side).
If the Female Category rank is 34334 & 36212, adjust it to 31000 & 33000.
Follow this approach for Other State (OS) candidates and different categories.
Pro Tip: Adjust your daughter's expected rank slightly lower than the previous year's cutoffs for realistic expectations during JoSAA counseling.

Can This Method Be Used for JEE April & JEE Advanced?
Yes! You can repeat the same steps after your April JEE Main results to refine your admission possibilities.
You can also follow a similar process for JEE Advanced cutoffs when applying for IITs.

My gmr rank in wbjee 26050 and ews rank is 1169. I have tfw also which rank is 5683 What is the best colleges for cse or it Please guide
Ans: Priya, Your WBJEE ranks present strong admission opportunities, particularly through EWS category with rank 1169 which significantly enhances your chances for Computer Science and Information Technology branches across multiple institutions. Government engineering colleges like Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Kalyani Government Engineering College, and Cooch Behar Government Engineering College remain accessible through EWS quota, with CSE cutoffs typically ranging from 1200-2500 for EWS category candidates. Your TFW rank of 5683 provides additional pathways to quality private institutions, as TFW cutoffs generally extend beyond 5000 for most colleges except highly competitive ones like IEM Kolkata and Heritage Institute of Technology. Private colleges demonstrate excellent admission prospects with your EWS rank, including Haldia Institute of Technology, Techno India University, and Asansol Engineering College, all offering CSE and IT programs within your rank range. The GMR rank of 26050, while limiting options at premium institutions, still provides access to numerous private engineering colleges through management quota and later counseling rounds, particularly for branches like ECE, EE, and ME where competition remains moderate compared to CSE.

Top 10 Colleges with Strong Admission Chances:
JIS College of Engineering, Narula Institute of Technology, RCC Institute of Information Technology, Durgapur Institute of Advanced Technology, Siliguri Institute of Technology, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College via EWS, Asansol Engineering College, Techno India Salt Lake, Cooch Behar Government Engineering College via EWS, Haldia Institute of Technology via EWS.

Recommendation: Prioritize EWS category during counseling for maximum advantage, target government colleges first, then quality private institutions. Focus on CSE and IT branches through EWS quota while keeping ECE as backup option. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Sir My son taken BE-Chemical and leaving CSE of IIIT NR, is this wise decision? Please suggest
Ans: Sumit Sir, Evaluating your son's decision to leave IIIT Naya Raipur CSE for BE Chemical Engineering reveals significant career trajectory differences across market dynamics and placement outcomes. IIIT NR CSE demonstrates strong placement performance with 84.36% placement rates in 2024, average packages of Rs 18.90 LPA, and highest packages reaching Rs 82 LPA from leading tech companies including Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. The CSE program benefits from booming technology sector demand, rapid career progression, and versatile skill applications across multiple industries. Conversely, Chemical Engineering shows varied placement success ranging from 54-89% across institutions, with average packages between Rs 7-12 LPA and slower career advancement cycles typical of traditional process industries. While Chemical Engineering offers opportunities in petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and emerging green energy sectors, the job market remains significantly smaller with a 12:1 ratio favoring CSE openings.

Critical institutional excellence parameters reveal contrasting advantages: Academic Reputation favors IIIT NR's specialized technology focus versus general Chemical Engineering programs; Placement Performance strongly supports CSE's consistent 80%+ rates against Chemical Engineering's declining trends; Industry Integration shows CSE's dynamic tech ecosystem versus Chemical Engineering's mature but limited industrial base; Infrastructure Quality benefits IIIT NR's modern facilities designed for technology education; Alumni Network Strength demonstrates CSE's expanding tech industry connections versus Chemical Engineering's established but narrower professional networks.

Recommendation: Continuing with IIIT NR CSE represents the superior choice based on proven placement excellence, dynamic market demand, superior financial prospects, and versatile career pathways. The decision to switch carries substantial opportunity costs and career risks without proportional benefits. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!
