Which college should I choose for my son? - SJBIT, VVCE, GIT, JSS ATE or Bennet University?

Hi Rediffguru, My Son is getting seats in following : A> SJBIT EC - Bangalore, B> VVCE : IS/EC- Mysore , C> GIT IS/EC - Belagavi, D> JSS ATE EC Bangalore through COMEDK. He is open to study in any of the IT branches (EC/IT/CS). We have Bennet University CSE seat allocated. Please let us know your opinion if its worth going for Bennet University CSE seat considering its fees and its far off from Bangalore Thanks for your response, Seshu

Hello Sir, My son has got admission in Christ University School of Engineering for BTech in CSE (Core) in the Kengeri campus. CHRIST is not as famous as some of the older private colleges for Engineering but their School of Engineering is more than 10 yrs old & NIRF ranking is higher than some famous engineering colleges in Karnataka. Also the course is NBA & NAAC accredited as well. Placements in the CSE dept seems to be decent too & campus is nice as well. Many of his friends & classmates who applied after them did not get seats as denand for their Engineering seats seem to be high after good NIRF ranking this year. Sir, please give me an honest opinion as also I cannot now afford the crazy fees at some of the "famous" management'quota colleges. Thank you.

Also, please note, success of your son in his career does not only depend upon the College he joins, but also depends upon his self-motivation / dedication / upgrading his skills / /extra & co-curricular activities / personality development during his 4-year tenure Simply put, NOT all students who join Tier 1 colleges will be successful. And, students who join Tier 2 & Tier 3 colleges ALSO will be successful in their careers. As such, he can join Christ (Kengeri Campus). No issue. Sir, my son is getting CSE Core at Manipal Bengaluru Campus in the 4th iteration. He will also get CSE with specialization in FinTech, Data Sciences, Computer and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, and possibly even AIML at the main Manipal campus. The cutoff for CSE Core at Bengaluru is (5687) which is lesser than all the specializations at the main campus. My son's rank is 2,000. Should we choose CSE with specialization at the main campus considering its legacy, alumini... or choose CSE Core at Bengaluru, a relatively new campus? Are we missing out on anything if we prefer specialization at Main campus over CSE core at Bengaluru? Do core CSE students have any edge? We have less than 24 hours to decide. Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ans: Yes, at 93 percentile in JEE Main with SC category and SC rank around 6,000, getting a seat at NIT Patna is possible, especially in the lower or mid-demand branches.

Ans: With a 98.48 percentile in JEE Mains and a CRL rank of ~23,346 in General category, you have very good chances of getting into top-tier NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs

My daughter is getting computer science in Thapar and computer science core in Vit Chennai category 2, which should we give preference to? She also got 115 marks in Manipal Exam. We live in Delhi

Ans: For computer science, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) is generally considered a better option than VIT Chennai, especially if the VIT Chennai admission is in Category 2. Thapar has a stronger reputation, better alumni network, and potentially higher placement opportunities, especially for core computer science. While VIT Chennai is a good institution, Thapar's legacy and strong placement records may offer a more advantageous career path.

Ans: Almost every student gets placed, with the lowest package being INR 4,00,000 for BTech EEE and the highest being INR 2,500,000. TCS, Infosys, and other companies participate in the placements. More than 50% of the students get internships in foreign companies.
