Hello ! I have a query about MPSC ARTO prelims exam Is there separate cut off or combine for prelims exam? Please provide answer. Thank you!

Ans: The MPSC ARTO Prelims exam has a separate cutoff from the mains exam. Candidates must meet or exceed the prelims cutoff to qualify for the mains stage. The cutoff marks vary by category and are determined based on factors like the difficulty level, number of vacancies, and candidate performance. The prelims cutoff is specific to the preliminary objective-type exam and is distinct from the combined cutoff used at later stages. Meeting the prelims cutoff is essential for progressing to the mains exam and subsequently the interview, which together finalize the selection. Official sources affirm that the cutoff is published category-wise and updated annually after the exam is conducted.

Recommendation: Focus on clearing the MPSC ARTO prelims by targeting the category-specific cutoff, which is separate and essential for advancement to mains and final selection. Regularly check the official MPSC website for updated cutoff marks and prepare according to the latest exam patterns to ensure success. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Please Reply THANKS AND REGARDS
Ans: Here is a point-by-point reply to your question-

(1) Application form (MHT-CET 2026): Enter and upload your combined PCM marks. That means the Physics and Chemistry marks from your PCB Feb 2025 HSC marksheet and the Mathematics marks from your Maths Isolated June 2025 marksheet. Do not upload only PCB or only Maths separately; both marksheets are required to show that you meet the required criterion.

(2) CAP application (after CET exam): When asked for the HSC seat number, enter the main HSC seat number from your PCB Feb 2025 marksheet. The Maths isolated marks are linked as an improvement/isolated subject, and during CAP you will upload both marksheets. Do not enter CET marks manually for PCM. The CET score is fetched automatically, and HSC PCM eligibility is verified using your uploaded documents.

(3) Admission with two marksheets: Yes, you can get engineering admission with PCB + Maths isolated marksheets. This is accepted in Maharashtra, and many students do it. As long as both marksheets are valid, you meet PCM eligibility, and documents are uploaded correctly, admission is usually smooth. Colleges may verify both marksheets during admission, but this does not cause rejection if everything is in order.

However, it is highly recommended to download the brochure from the CET cell website to get the latest updates. For more clarification, suggest visiting any ARC or any engineering college near your home and getting it clarified to relax.

Good luck.

Nayagam Sir, My son CRL rank 54907 (96.51 Percentile), in JEE 2026. Open category, HS TN. No branch preference. Please suggest good NIT/IIIT or alternative private colleges. Is it advisable to wait till CSAB counselling?
Ans: Vinod Sir, With a CRL of 54,907 in the Open category and Tamil Nadu home-state quota, NIT Trichy is unlikely through JoSAA. Even lower-demand home-state branches such as Civil, Metallurgy, and Production have usually closed much earlier in recent rounds. For reference, in NIT Trichy 2025, HS Open CSE closed around 4,463, and Civil/Metallurgy/Production were also well below 54,907.

More realistic JoSAA/CSAB targets would be NIT Puducherry, NIT Andhra Pradesh, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Manipur, NIT Mizoram, NIT Nagaland, and NIT Arunachal Pradesh for branches like Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, EEE, or Production. A few GFTIs and newer IIITs may also be possible, but CSE/IT will be difficult at this rank.

Yes, it is better to wait for and participate in CSAB, but do not rely on it alone. Your son can also participate in TNEA counselling, but getting into reputed colleges may be difficult, especially if your son is from a non-Tamil Nadu school board (CBSE/ICSE/IB) and has lower cutoff marks. It is highly advisable to keep strong backup options in private colleges such as SSN, SASTRA, Amrita, VIT, SRM, Shiv Nadar Chennai, Sathyabama, and Saveetha. All the BEST for Your Son's Prosperous Future!
