With respect to your rank in VITEEE, it is possible to secure a seat in Civil or Mechanical Engineering at VIT Bhopal (Category 1). At VIT AP, you may also secure a seat in Civil Engineering (Category 1) in later rounds. Therefore, the best option is to choose Civil Engineering at Bhopal in Category 1. Make sure to fill in your preferences accordingly and try to grab this opportunity.

We can’t generalize, as it also depends on the specific branches. The lowest percentile generally accepted for core branches like Mechanical or Civil Engineering is around 92-95 in MHT-CET, while for Computer Science (CS/AI) it is 96-99+. If you want to secure a seat, aim to score higher instead of focusing on the lowest percentile.

With respect to your son's rank, he will be placed in phase 2 counseling, and the possibilities are as follows:

VIT Vellore Campus:
- CSE & Specialized Branches: Securing standard CSE is highly unlikely; however, he might get specialized CSE branches in categories 4 or 5. There are good chances for EEE, EIT, and Mechanical in category 2 or 3.

VIT Chennai Campus:
- There are possibilities of securing a seat in ECE or CSE specialization in categories 3 or 4, and EEE or Mechanical in categories 2 to 4.

VIT Bhopal & VIT Amravati Campuses:
- In these two campuses, there are very high chances of securing CSE core or specialized branches in categories 1 or 2.

The following are the details:
- In VIT Bhopal and VIT AP: There are good chances for CSE or CS specialization in categories 3 to 5, and high chances for core branches (EEE, Mechanical) in categories 1 to 3.
- In VIT Chennai: It is possible to secure a seat in ECE or CSE specialization in categories 3 or 4, and in EEE or Mechanical in categories 2 to 4.

According to your son's rank and domicile, he has a very strong chance of securing top-tier branches at several NITs, particularly through the home state quota. There are high chances at MNIT Jaipur where he can secure CSE or ECE in the first few rounds of JoSAA. At NIT Surathkal and NIT Trichy, the competitive branches like Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering are possible.

For NIT Rourkela or NIT Warangal (Other State), there are very strong possibilities for core branches like Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering. In VNIT Nagpur, there are strong chances for ECE or Mechanical Engineering. At SVNIT Surat, there are good chances for CSE or ECE. CSE is also possible in newer or mid-tier NITs like Patna, Raipur, or Jamshedpur. If you are planning for CSE, your son should consider either Jaipur or Surat, as they are in proximity. However, in categories 4 or 5, you can aim for competitive branches, and in categories 1 or 2 for less competitive branches in AP or Bhopal. If you are particularly focused on CSE, plan accordingly for options in Tamil Nadu or other regions, as you can consider those states as well.
