I am not sure if you mean you both have romantic feelings for each other or just friendly. If it’s romantic, I am not sure I can help because in that case, you should be working on your marriages and figuring out what’s lacking in your relationship that you are seeking love and attention from a colleague. If the feelings are romantic, moving on from your colleague should be the least of your worries and working on your marriage your priority.

But if you mean you and your colleague were close friends, and you can’t move on from the friendship, then I am sorry you are in such a tricky situation. Ans: To improve placement and exam performance, such as GATE, your son should focus on strong core concepts (Networks, Signals, Control Systems, EDC), coding (C/C++/Python), Data Structures & Algorithms, MATLAB/Simulink, basic VLSI/Embedded Systems, internships/projects, aptitude practice, and consistent GATE-level problem solving.
However, let your son decide what is best for him. Ask your son to talk with seniors or keep in touch with pass-out students so they can tell what the tech industry actually needs. I would like to suggest one more thing. Please read the Wanted/Placement advertisements published in English daily papers on a regular basis to understand the recent trends.
To face upcoming challenges, ask him to master as many AI tools as possible.
