Sir My son Got 86.45 percentile in jee main and scored, 94.8 percentage in cbse board exam. He whish to join cse, home state is Kerala, may get mechanical engineering. With out proper coaching he had secured this mark.. Just he has appeared for jee advance also But not that much hope we have Is it advisable to repeat jee main and advance or join mechanical engineering may get at nit Calicut. We are confused? Please help us..

Ans: No matter the category your son belongs to, it's not likely that he'll get even Mechanical Engineering at 86.45 at NIT-Calicut. He can fill as many choices as possible in JoSAA, including NIT-Calicut, if he is willing to be open about other branches as well (if he is mentally ready for that). Dropping a year to get a better rank is a good idea if your son is determined and ready to work hard. If not, you should have other options by applying to private colleges in Kerala or other nearby states with his JEE score or board marks if you can afford it. All the best for your Son's admissions and a bright future!
