JEE 165, IISER 202: Tier 1 IIT or IISc B.S. for my son?

My son ( General category) got 165 marks in Jee Advanced 2025 exam and 202 in IISER 2025 Exam.Will he get a seat in Tier 1 IIT's? Or B.S in Iisc? He also got 60+ ( two digits)rank in K CET..kindly advise Further what is the scope for B S?

Ans: Vinod Sir, With a JEE Advanced score of 165 marks (approximate/expected CRL rank 1,600–2,000)(today JEE-A Result has been declared), admission to Tier 1 IITs (Bombay/Delhi/Madras) for core branches like CSE/ECE is unlikely, as their 2024 closing ranks for General category ranged from 67 (CSE-IIT Bombay) to 550 (Mechanical-IIT Bombay). However, less competitive branches like Metallurgical Engineering at IIT Roorkee (2024 cutoff: ~4,000 CRL) or Civil Engineering at IIT Kanpur (~3,500 CRL) may be feasible. For IISc Bangalore’s B.Sc (Research), the 2024 JEE Advanced cutoff was CRL 903, making admission improbable, but his IISER score of 202/240 (expected rank
