Hi I graduated as an electrical Engineer in2023, I got a core electrical job as a Design engineer on E3s tool (autocad) with 50k per month salary, I want to know what skill should I learn to get a better package and what career opportunities can I get as a electrical engineer or should I switch to software
Ans: As an electrical engineer working as a design engineer with experience in the E3s tool (AutoCAD), there are several skills you can develop to enhance your career prospects and potentially increase your salary. Additionally, there are various career opportunities available to electrical engineers, both within the core electrical field and in related industries such as software. Consider expanding your proficiency beyond AutoCAD to other CAD software commonly used in electrical design, such as SolidWorks Electrical, Revit MEP, or CATIA Electrical. Mastery of multiple CAD tools can make you more versatile and valuable in the job market. Apart from CAD tools, explore specialized electrical design software used for tasks like circuit design, simulation, and analysis. Examples include MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, or ETAP. These skills are highly sought after in industries such as power systems, electronics, and renewable energy. Learning programming languages relevant to electrical engineering can open up new career opportunities and boost your earning potential. Languages like Python, C/C++, and MATLAB are widely used in tasks such as data analysis, automation, and embedded systems development. Developing project management skills can help you take on leadership roles and advance in your career. Consider obtaining certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) to demonstrate your expertise in managing engineering projects effectively.

With these additional skills and experience, you can progress to higher-level roles within electrical design, such as senior design engineer, lead engineer, or design manager, and project engineer or manager. With the right skills and experience, you may choose to start your own engineering consultancy or technology startup. Entrepreneurship offers the potential for significant financial rewards and the opportunity to pursue your own projects and ideas as well.

Before making any career decisions, carefully assess your interests, strengths, and long-term goals. Research the job market, industry trends, and salary benchmarks to identify the most promising career paths. Additionally, consider networking with professionals in your field, seeking mentorship, and pursuing continuing education or certifications to stay competitive in the job market.
