Torn Between BITS-UB CS and NIT Trichy EEE: Which Path Should My Daughter Choose?

Dear Sir, my daughter has 2 options. (1) BITS Pilani + UB dual degree (1st time introduced this year)- Computer Science - Pilani campus + University of Buffalo (SUNY) (2+2 years program). (2) As per her JEE Mains score, she got NIT Trichy EEE. Cost of BITS + UB is 10X compared to NIT Trichy. I have to (can) go for Education loan for her BITS-UB course. As per discussions with my USA friends, Current job crisis in USA for software engineers is going to extend for some more time. At the same time, in India, we are seeing constant demand for Core Engg (Electrical / Electronics). My daughter is a bit inclined towards software. But, she is fine with either of the programs. We are in confusion to select either CSC through BITS-UB or EEE at NIT Trichy. Request your valuable inputs.

Ans: Ravi Sir, Prefer NIT-T-EEE. As she is also interested in Software, she can also upgrade her skills / add her knowledge in Software through NPTEL, Coursera, Internshala, LinkedIn etc. and / or any other online platforms recommended by her Institute's Faculties. Sir, My daughter has been offered for B.E(Computer Science Engineering)-CU, 50% discount, B.Tech Computer Science Engineering) NIIT University, 100% discount ,and B.Tech Computer Science Engineering) UPES University, which one to Choose?

Ans: UPES University stands out for its strong placement record (90% placement, highest package ?50 LPA), excellent industry connections, and modern infrastructure, making it the best choice for CSE if budget permits. NIIT University’s full fee waiver is attractive financially but has less established placement outcomes. CU offers a decent option with a 50% discount but comparatively lower placement strength. Ans: With a rank of 6525 in SRMJEEE Phase 2, it is unlikely that you will get CSE core at SRM Andhra Pradesh (Amaravati). The expected cutoff for CSE core at SRM AP is typically around 9,000. Your rank is slightly above that cutoff, but it's still possible to get CSE with a specialization or in another campus if you are flexible.

My son got 9200 rank in IAT , and 89000 overall . Is there any possibility of getting iiser.

Ans: With an IAT rank of 9200, your son has a good chance of getting into some IISERs, particularly the newer campuses like IISER Tirupati and IISER Berhampur. The older, more competitive campuses like IISER Pune and IISER Kolkata are less likely, but still possible depending on his category and preferences.
