Dear Mayank, my friend's daughter completed MA in Economics and is now teaching in a private college. However she wants to switch career as she is not sarisfied with the payscale of her job. She is pursuing an one year course in Data analysis simultaneously and was planning to switch to Data analysis career. However now she has been advised by her husband (she got married recently) to build upon her economics background by pursuing MBA in finance. She is confused what will be a better way forward Data analysis or MBA finance. She is 26 years old and resides in Calcutta. Request you to kindly advise on the best way forward for her.

Ans: I would say it really depends on her interests levels and skills. She should do what she is passionate about rather than doing what others are advising her. If we go by the book then full time MBA from a reputed college has better prospects and since she is young and does not have kids she can persue that. But again it all depends on what she wants to do and carry on for the rest of her career

Sir, My Daughter has just completed her PGDM in E Business from a reputed institute in Mumbai and also placed in a MNC bank as Business analyst. Would you suggest her to go for MBA from abroad in Finance, if at all she wants to excel in her carrier?
Ans: Hello Rajesh,

First and foremost, thank you for getting in touch with us. Sincere congratulations to your daughter on finishing her PGDM and landing a position as a Business Analyst with an MNC bank. Depending on her job objectives and personal preferences, pursuing an MBA in Finance overseas may be a smart move for her to advance in her career.

When choosing whether to pursue an MBA in Finance overseas, keep the following things in mind:

1. Career Objectives: An MBA in Finance from a foreign university can be a fantastic option if your daughter wishes to switch careers or grow in the financial industry. She can acquire the skills and knowledge she needs to flourish in the finance sector as a result of it.

2. Personal Choices: Your daughter should decide if she is prepared for the challenges and costs of pursuing an MBA overseas. She should also take into consideration the location (setting) and culture of the country she wants to study in, as well as if it is compatible with her own preferences.

3. Skill Enhancement: Your daughter's knowledge and abilities in areas like corporate finance, risk management, investment analysis, and financial management can be improved by enrolling in an MBA program abroad, which can provide her with specialised coursework and hands-on learning experiences in the field of finance.

4. Networking Possibilities: By studying overseas, your daughter may have the chance to connect with professionals, academic staff, and students from various backgrounds. This can help her create a strong professional network that could be useful for her future career aspirations.

5. Expenditure and Return on Investment (ROI): Your daughter should take into account the cost of tuition, living expenses, and other associated costs before pursuing an MBA abroad because it can be pricey. Not just that, she should also consider the Return on Investment (ROI) of the MBA, or whether earning the degree will enable her to pursue her career objectives and will be financially worthwhile.

6. Business School’s Social Standing: Your daughter should conduct research and select a prestigious business school that provides an MBA in Finance overseas. Her future employment opportunities and professional advancement may be significantly impacted by the business school's reputation.

Your daughter's specific career aspirations, personal situation, and financial concerns should ultimately guide her decision about whether to pursue an MBA in Finance overseas. Making an informed choice requires extensive research and evaluation of various MBA programs, including their reputations, curriculum, faculty, alumni networks, and placement rates. Consultation with career counselors, mentors, and finance specialists may also be beneficial.

What is comprehensive auto insurance policy? What are its benefits? What are the inclusions and non-inclusions if I want to know before buying a comprehensive auto insurance policy?
Ans: A comprehensive auto insurance policy in India offers the most extensive coverage for your car and any third-parties involved in an accident. It's like a two-wheeler for your car's security, providing protection for both your vehicle and your wallet.

Benefits of a Comprehensive Policy:

1. Peace of mind: Covers a wide range of situations, so you'll be financially protected in case of many unforeseen events.

2. Own Damage Cover: Pays for repairs or replacement of your car if it's damaged in an accident, by fire, theft, natural calamities, riots, or even falls victim to vandalism.

3. Third-Party Liability Cover: Takes care of any legal or financial liabilities you incur if your car causes injury, disability or death to a third party, or damages their property.

4. Personal Accident Cover (Optional): Provides financial assistance to you or your family in case of injury or death due to a car accident (depending on the policy terms).

What to Consider Before Buying:

Inclusions:

a. Most accidents (collision, hit and run)

b. Theft (partial or complete)

c. Fire damage

d. Natural disasters (floods, earthquakes, etc.)

e. Riots, strikes, and other man-made calamities

g. Third-party property damage and bodily injury

h. Personal accident cover (if opted for)

Non-inclusions:

a. Damages due to wear and tear

b. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

c. Mechanical or electrical breakdown

d. Depreciation on parts replaced during repairs

e. Using the car for illegal purposes

Additional Tips:

1. Add-on Covers: Enhance your policy with optional extras like engine protection or zero depreciation cover for a more comprehensive safety net.

2. Compare Quotes: Get quotes from different insurance companies to find the best coverage and price for your needs.

Remember, a comprehensive policy offers superior protection compared to third-party only insurance, which is mandatory by law but only covers your liability towards third parties. For a secure ride on Indian roads, a comprehensive policy is the way to go.

My daughter did her graduation in November 2023 from a top-ranked university in Canada - University of British Columbia, Vancouver (QS World Rank within 35). She is interested in a job in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and related software domains. She graduated with an interdisciplinary BSc in Cognitive Systems, including several courses from Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Neuroscience, etc.. Unfortunately, unlike in US universities, there's no Campus Placement facilities available in UBC and most Canadian universities. Please advise how to get into a job in this gloomy economic scenario, in Canada (USA is ruled out because OPT is not available for non-US university graduates).
Ans: Hello Indranil. Thanks for reaching out to us. Given your daughter's background in cognitive systems with coursework in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Neuroscience from a prestigious institution like the University of British Columbia (UBC), she has a strong base for having a career in AI and related fields. Although no campus placement is challenging, there are ways to find a job while keeping in mind the gloomy economic condition.

1. Encourage your daughter to leverage her professional network, including alumni, professors, and industry contacts. Attending industry events, seminars, and meetups can provide valuable networking opportunities and help her connect with potential employers or mentors in the field of AI and software development.

2. An online presence, such as having an account on LinkedIn, is important. She can showcase her skills and achievements—both academic and extracurricular—so far, reach out to professionals, etc
