some amount is received on sale of land which my father had bought25 years ago .he expired 10 years back. what are tax implication?

Ans: You (as a recipient of sale consideration) is required to pay tax on capital gain amount calculated in prescribed manner. Cost at which your father acquired land will be relevant for calculation purpose.

Ans: Agriculture land situated in rural area is not considered as Capital Asset. Accordingly, Capital Gain is not taxable. Please make sure that land is situated as per specified conditions of population and municipal limits mentioned in the Income Tax Act.

Ans: Land being capital asset transferred by father to its son for consideration, will be taxable in the in the hands of father. Indexation benefit is available to cost of acquisition and taxability will depend on period of holding.

Ans: Yes, transfer of capital asset (land) is subject to tax. Cost of previous owner will be considered cost of acquisition for calculation of capital gain.

Ans: It is a bit on the higher side with normal being 100. It would be a good idea to either check the HBA1C to be a bit more certain, else just try and reduce your carbs as well as over all calorie intake to reduce the fasting sugars. This is of course assuming you are a little overweight. If not, you should see a physician and get some more specific advice.

Sir, I am 63 yrs. Last year I suffered from BP 170/110. I went to a Physician and as per his advice I am taking the tablets Nicardia 10mg 1 tablet alongwith Telista 20mg 1 tablet @ morning 9am and Nicardia 10mg 1 tablet at night 9pm. Now for the past three months my BP controlled 120/70 (OR) sometimes 110/70. Can I continue the same or to reduce the dose.

Ans: If the BP recorded multiple times is remaining a bit low, it maybe possible to reduce the dose. However, you should see the physician, have the BP checked in the clinic, and discuss the new dosages.

Ans: Triglycerides are largely an interplay of their metabolism, diet and genetics. You would benefit from reducing consumption of non fibre carbs, excessive processed foods and fried foods. Would also help to exercise at least 5 days a week. Recheck your lipids after 3 months and see your doctor.

I was advised by one doctor to take Ecosprin AV 75 while two other doctors advised me to stop it as it can be harmful in the long run. My sugar levels are 6.2 Hb1AC and triglycerides 81. Cholestrol levels are also normal.

Ans: Aspirin and Statin are suggested based on the risk for cardiovascular disease. Diabetes is a big risk factor. If you have even one more risk factor, it makes sense to take Aspirin and Statin, to maintain your LDL below 70. You have not mentioned your LDL. I would recommend you get one formal consultation to understand the various risk factors and interventions.

Ans: That's quite good. Tending ever so slightly towards pre-diabetes but with proper diet and exercise, this will remain this way or get even better. If not it has potential to go to diabetes quite rapidly, especially since you are around the age of 40.

My total cholestrol is only 99 with HDL at 33 and LDL at 55 and the VLDL is 11. Trygliciride is also 66. Is low HDL a cause for concern even though total is very low. My levels has always been like this with maximum total being at 125.

Ans: There are a lot of genetic variations in cholesterol levels from family to family. By and large these numbers are ok. HDL can be improved a little with regular exercise.

Ans: The level is ok as far as fasting sugar goes. It would also help to know the actual liver numbers and the HBA1C , which is the 3 months avg of the sugar levels. That would help understand the level of sugar control better. And sugar control is very important for the liver as well, among other precautions.
