my Iat obc-ncl category rank is 7368. any chance of getting iiser through last rounds?

Ans: Ravindra, With an OBC-NCL category rank of 7368 in IAT 2025, there is unfortunately no realistic chance of securing admission to any IISER, even in the final rounds. The most recent data shows that the OBC-NCL closing ranks for the least competitive IISERs (such as Berhampur, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Bhopal) have consistently remained below 2400–2600 in all rounds, with the highest closing rank last year being 2381 for IISER Berhampur in the seventh round. Even with increased competition and a slight rise in cutoffs, OBC-NCL closing ranks have not extended beyond 2600 in any recent year, and the expected cutoff for 2025 remains in this range. Marks-wise, the minimum qualifying score for OBC-NCL is expected to be 100–110 out of 240, but your rank is far above the cutoff range for seat allocation.

The recommendation is to consider alternative science programs at central or state universities or private institutes, as admission to any IISER with an OBC-NCL rank of 7368 is not possible in 2025, even in the last rounds. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Can I get into any IISER till last round councelling with 9,300 obc category rank in iat?
Ans: With an OBC category rank of 9,300 in IAT 2025, admission to any IISER is extremely unlikely even in the last round of counselling. The detailed cutoff analysis reveals that all seven IISERs have OBC closing ranks well below 3,000 across all counselling rounds. IISER Berhampur, which typically has the highest OBC cutoffs among all IISERs, closed at 2,407 OBC rank in Round 8 (final round) in 2024. IISER Tirupati closed OBC admissions at 2,318 rank in Round 6 in 2024, while IISER Bhopal had its final OBC cutoff at 1,712 rank in Round 6. IISER Kolkata closed OBC seats at 1,377 rank in Round 4, and historical data shows IISER Thiruvananthapuram typically closes around 1,241 OBC rank. Even the most accessible IISER programs consistently require OBC ranks between 500-2,500, with IISER counselling typically conducting 6-8 rounds annually. IISER 2025 counselling registration opened on June 26, 2025, and will continue through multiple rounds until August 2025, but your 9,300 OBC rank significantly exceeds historical admission thresholds by 4x-6x margins across all participating institutes and all available rounds. The OBC category cutoff for 2025 is expected to range between 100-110 marks, requiring ranks typically under 2,500 for successful admission to any IISER campus.

Recommendation: IISER admission is not possible with 9,300 OBC rank even in final counselling rounds, as all seven IISERs consistently close OBC admissions below 2,500 rank; focus on alternative science education options including state universities, deemed universities, or private institutions offering BS-MS programs; consider other quality science colleges or engineering programs where your academic profile aligns better with admission requirements for pursuing research-oriented scientific education. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
