Can I Pursue a Master’s in Physics Despite Having Multiple Backlogs in My Bachelor’s?

Iam a student who was pursuing bsc physics,but in third semester i got 2 backlogs in physics and maths,and in 4th semester 1 back log in maths and in 5th semester 3 back logs and in 6th semester 2 and i cleared 7 back papers and remaing only 1 maths paper ,and i like to pursue my msc after that ,did can it will be a good choice for me!?

Ans: NO. It is better to search for a job, gain experience & think about MCA. MCA is tougher than BCA and you should be able to clear all subjects without much-backlogs (which you had gone through). Employers/Recruiters notice/question this. They will be satisfied only if your justification (for backlogs) is reasonable such as genuine Medical Problems etc.

My son is doing in II BSc Physics (Hons) in Bangalore in a residential college. At the end of each semester he ends up with two backlogs. This time he has three backlogs and therefore he was not promoted to IIIrd of BSc. He feels very dejected since he says after putting efforts he is unable to clear whereas he is of the view that his classmate with low efficiency than him has cleared the exams. I was having hope that after his third BSC he may pursue in some foreign university. The hopes are being dashed for both of us as a father as well as my son. In the process he will be losing one year. Please guide whether he will be treated as the same candidate as BSC Physics after fourth year if he wants to pursue his MSc Physics or related subject to get admission in India as well as in some foreign university.

Ans: You might not want to hear this.

However, I'm going to tell you this. Maybe physics BSc / MSc. is not the right career choice for your son.

I would strongly suggest you to sit with him and understand what excites him and what does not. Why is this problem recurring and you might come to realise that he never wanted to do the current course in the first place

There may be a better opportunity. There may be a different career path for him

My suggestion right now is that since the current BSc physics honours is not really working out for him, you should not choose to pursue MSC physics

The problem would be same whether you try to pursue it in India or abroad

My daughter is doing her BSc Honours in Physics from Delhi University. She is an ace student but due to sickness, she got backlogs in 3 subjects in 5th semester. Shes devastated and gone into depression as this is the first time ever she's has got F grade in her academic life. Will she get admission in Msc Physics? In India or abroad?? Recently DU has sent letters to her college stating that there could be 80% chance of 4th year added for BSc Honours. Will this help. Also, will her whole 1 year waste as if the 4th year extension is not added then she will hv to give exam on coming December to clear the backlogs wid juniors. Will all this affect her admission in pg? Will she get admission in abroad universities??

Ans: Failure is part of life and it is important to face failures else you cannot cope up with failures when it comes. Having backlogs is not a big thing. If she cannot give her backlog now but has to wait for next year then she can think of doing her 4th year in the college and simultaneously clear her backlog. But if she can clear her backlog and get admission to MSc then she can not do her 4th year and instead try get admission to post graduate course.

Sir ,I am behind in 3 subjects in my 3rd semester of BSc. I will clear them but can I take entrance for MSc

Ans: You can appear in the Entrance Exam, but admission to MSc will be subject to clearing all subjects by the end of your 3rd year. Other conditions of eligibility criteria depend upon which entrance exams you will appear in, as most entrance exams will expect minimum aggregate marks which also you have to fulfill.

Check thoroughly about the Eligibility Criteria/Selection Process of each Entrance Exams you wish to apply for.

Sir, I have completed B.sc. with ZBC but in final year I have dropped the Chemistry so can I do M.sc in Chemistry. Please help me regarding this issue.

Ans: Hello Ved.
You completed a B.Sc. with ZBC (Zoology, Botany, Chemistry). Why you dropped Chemistry in the final year is not clear. But to pursue an M.Sc. in Chemistry, most universities require Chemistry to be studied throughout your UG program for eligibility. Hence you can't take admission to M.Sc. Chemistry. It would be better to focus on subjects you've completed in B.Sc. Otherwise, choose a different path.

both career have their perks. After B.Sc nursing, you can go abroad where it is very high demand and rewarding. In Europe you can earn above 2L after experience of 1-2 years in India.
After BAMS you will be a doctor & can practice allopathy after a bridge course. Also, you can work as a resident doctor in hospitals.

If you have a budget of around 20-25L for the complete course I can help you with admissions for MBBS abroad. Since NEXT exam has become compulsory for Indian as well as foreign graduates. It is also a great option.

In my view, flexicap type mutual fund is the best fund to invest for a 7 yr+ horizon.

This may change based on risk appetite and financial profile apart investment horizon.

Any fund from the top quartile that has proven its ability to provide better risk adjusted returns over long-term may be apt.

as per jee main brochure, there is no age limit for candidates applying for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main). However, Candidates are required to pass the class 12 or equivalent exam in 2023, 2024 or 2025.

Dear Mr Milind, I am a 43 year old single guy with no kids. I am looking to retire within next 2 to 3 years. I own a home in a metro city and i do not have any outstanding loans. My current retirement portfolio include 2 crore Mutual Funds (75% Equity and 25% Debt). I have 50 Lakhs in Pf and Gratuity. I also have a plot worth 30 Lakhs which i am not considering for retirement fund. I will have a total retirement portfolio of 3 Cr in next 2 years. My monthly expenses is 50k. Am i in comfortable financial position to retire by 2027? Please Advise

Ans: Hello;

After you accumulate a corpus of 3 Cr, you may 20/10 L in a mix of liquid funds and flexi FDs as your emergency fund.

If you invest the balance 2.8/2.9 Cr in a equity savings type mutual fund with low to moderate risk rating and do an SWP at 3%, you may expect a post tax monthly income of 60 K+.

This will grow with inflation as the fund provides returns and thus provide inflation indexed income.

Consider investing in NPS regularly every month the proceeds of which may be used to boost your retirement income at 60.

Do take good health care insurance.

It is better to save ~ 50% of your income towards this goal and get balance amount through loan rather then investing in market linked instruments, returns from which may be quite volatile in the short term.

Do you have an open marriage? Is your wife aware of your wishes and supports them? If that's the case, you have your own arrangement and I don't see how what you do is anyone else's business. But if that's not the case and you are planning on doing all of this behind your partner's back, and you are asking for some kind of reassurance from me that it is okay to cheat, I can't give you any.
