Hello sir, I passed my 12th in 2023 from West Bengal board. Then I started preparing for jee, but I haven't studied anything in 11th and 12th and I also wasted my two drop years in 2023 and 2024. My jee exams are on 31st January and second one in April. I also give wbjee, but I don't know any basic concepts of physics, chemistry and mathematics. What should I do now ? I belongs to a lower middle class family. If I take admission at private engineering college, the money will be wasted, because engineering needs basic concepts of 11th and 12th, but I haven't read anything in 11th and 12th. And After this year I will not get any chance of giving jee bcs this is the last chance. But wbjee have no limit I can give it next year also. But I wasted my 4 consecutive, there will be a higher chance that I will waste another if I start preparing for wbjee2026. Please somebody guide me what should I do. I am not weak in studies, but I wasted my time because of phone addiction. I also left using phone I don't use mobile anymore much. But I have no courage left inside me to fight for my career, please somebody guide me????

Ans: Attempting JEE Without knowing Basics is Joke. Discuss with your peers, parents and teachers and decide career as per ur choice , competence. Banking is other good option

Hello mam, During the mid of my 12th, I began to serious think about what I am going to do after 12th, before that I just watched a lot of science related shows, and some books, so i thought of becoming a research scientist but i was never serious about it. I was never interested in engineering as it is a technical field, so i very recklessly ignored my jee which were during January in 2023. I gave 12th and got 89% . Still, i was in this dilemma what should I purse, i was thinking that there is stable financial life if i take engineering cse, but on the other hand, i had my passion, so I wanted to take pure science. I was really confused and kept over thinking about it, so i messed up my April attempt as well. After that, i had options to do cuet (for du etc) or join a local govt engineering college. But, i thought that I can get iisc( for bs research) through jee advanced next year if i take a drop and prepare for it because iisc has kashmiri migrant cutoff of 8000 crl rank. So thought it was good. Now, i am in my drop year but still the thought are lingering in my mind that i won't be able to have a stable life if i take bs, then ms after PhD, all that takes time and if done from abroad only, they can provide good financial stability. So I am really confused right now what should I do? My father spend 2 lakhs in 11th+12th and now 70K in coaching, i think how can I repay him... that's kinda silly but still....also I don't want a cooperative job. What should I do?? Please guide me mam 😭 please 🙏
Ans: Aryan, please update your status as of now in July 2024 to enable me to answer. All the BEST.

I was an intelligent student until class 10th. I scored 90% in 10th from CBSE Board... Due to lackness of guidance, money i couldn't studied in good offline coachings..then my parents took non attending school in 12th in my city..i scored 69.8% in 12th in cbse..during COVID time..i distracted from phones from games,YouTube ,etc...i waste so much time in phone...and overthinking about how to prepare for jee ..12th all these..I took 1st drop,2nd drop,3rd drop,4th drop...in these ,I wasted all ..in 1st year, I got 71% ile in jee..in 2nd year ,it was bad..in 3rd year,i gave 12th again from nios .i scored 66.4%,I clear wbjee with 56000 rank.In 4th year,I missed the viteee& wbjee both exam..I am very tensed ,sad ,what should I do now .I want to do engineering...also I faced many health problems like migraine..anxiety,ocd, depression, brain nerves shrink like problems..
Ans: It’s clear you’ve been through a lot, and your journey reflects both your persistence and the challenges you’ve faced. You started as a strong student, but a lack of guidance, financial issues, distractions, and health struggles affected your performance. Despite setbacks, you didn’t give up. You appeared for JEE multiple times, cleared 12th again through NIOS, and even qualified WBJEE, though with a modest rank. Missing exams in your fourth attempt has added to your stress, and health issues like migraine, anxiety, OCD, and depression are also weighing you down. Right now, instead of only focusing on what went wrong, it may help to stabilize your health first, seek proper medical and mental health support, and then plan a realistic path forward in engineering, whether through state-level colleges, private universities, or alternative technical fields. You still have options, but your well-being must come first. Here are some realistic alternative routes for you to still pursue engineering despite the setbacks: (1) State & Private Colleges (Management/Direct Admission) (2) Diploma to Degree (Lateral Entry) (3) State-Level Exams like Odisha JEE, Maharashtra CET, COMEDK, etc., still possible (4) Deemed Universities & Distance Options (5) Parallel Technical Careers (If you prefer a faster route, i.e., B.Sc. Computer Science, IT, or BCA, then go for MCA/M.Tech)

My suggestion: Don’t waste another year dropping. Choose a private or state-level college this year (through WBJEE counseling, direct admission, or management quota) and start your B.Tech. Once you enter college, you can focus on learning, internships, and building a career instead of being stuck in exam cycles.

Good luck.

Hello sir, I have been following your suggestion quite on this platform, please suggest! My daughter secured 72 percentile in jee main 2026. Her rank is in in 4 lakhs. Secured 180 marks in bitsat 1. What should she further do. Which counselling she should register? She wants to pursue btech in cse or in ai ml. What best university is for her at the moment and best field for her, she has had pcmb with cs in class 12
Ans: Sarita Madam, I noticed you haven’t mentioned your daughter’s home state. Please note that BITS requires a minimum of 250 marks even for its MSc programs and above 300 marks for BE programs. Also, all branches are good; initially, she should choose a branch based on her interest or passion. However, she should remain adaptable as her preferences or job market trends may change by the 2nd or 3rd year. Regarding your daughter’s score, admission to NITs, IIITs, or top-tier GFTIs is unlikely. For general-category female candidates, even CSE-lite branches in newer IIITs usually require ranks under approximately 1.5 to 2.5 lakh. Still, it is advisable to register for JoSAA and CSAB-SPOT for possible core-branch or self-finance options in lesser-known GFTIs. Additionally, state counseling is important for government-aided colleges.

As a backup, consider reputed private engineering colleges in and around your state rather than relying solely on JoSAA or CSAB. All the BEST for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future!

Sir my daughter got around 24500 rank in jee mains. We are general category and live in kanpur up. What are some good options for her in nit and iiit considering we are comfortable with mechanical and chemical as well. Also she has a plan to opt for higher studies so a good college tag could rwally help. Also should I tell her to apply for some private universities as well or not?
Ans: Based on your daughter's score, she can target MNNIT Allahabad: 2024 JoSAA HS OPEN female Mechanical closed around 30,734, so she has a fair chance; Production/Industrial and Materials are safer. Chemical at MNNIT may be tougher under available data, but fill it above Mechanical. Also fill MNIT Jaipur Chemical/Civil, NIT Kurukshetra Mechanical/Civil/Electrical as stretch, and NIT Jalandhar Chemical/Mechanical; 2024 data shows these branches often close beyond 24.5k for female/OS or comparable quotas. Also fill MNIT Jaipur Chemical/Civil, NIT Kurukshetra Mechanical/Civil/Electrical as stretch, and NIT Jalandhar Chemical/Mechanical; 2024 data shows these branches often close beyond 24.5k for female/Other State or comparable quotas. For IIITs, top IIIT Allahabad IT/ECE is unlikely at 24.5k, but include lower IIITs/GFTIs in CSAB. Your daughter must also have the following backups: Thapar, LNMIIT, Jaypee Noida, (Shiv Nadar, Manipal, and VIT - North India Campuses.) Prioritize MNNIT tag if higher studies are the plan for your daughter. All the BEST for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future!
