Career

My son got jee mains rank 29000 and advanced 11000. Category obc. Is there a chance of getting NIT.

Ans: With a JEE Main rank of 29,000 (OBC-NCL), admission to core branches like Computer Science (CSE) or Electronics (ECE) at top-tier NITs (e.g., Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal) is unlikely, as their 2024 OBC closing ranks for CSE ranged from 1,633–3,000. However, Mechanical Engineering at mid-tier NITs like Jamshedpur (OBC closing rank: 9,551) or Durgapur (9,834) is feasible, alongside Civil Engineering at NIT Patna (12,299) or NIT Silchar (11,217). For Metallurgical Engineering, NIT Raipur (OBC closing rank: 11,705) and NIT Meghalaya (14,581) present viable options. While NIT Andhra Pradesh’s Biotechnology closed at 49,156 (OBC), its placement rates lag behind core branches. Recommendation: Target Mechanical/Civil Engineering at mid-tier NITs, leveraging OBC reservations, and prioritize home-state NITs if applicable for improved admission chances in preferred branches. All the BEST for your Son's Admission & a Prosperous Future!
