Sir, My son has got CSE in VIT -AP, and he has secured 22000 ranking in KCET and 31000 ranking in COMEDK. What are his chances of getting CSE in KCET and COMEDK colleges, Shall we proceed with VIT or wait for COMEDK/CET

Ans: Arun Sir, Based on the latest cutoff trends and seat availability, your son’s KCET rank of 22,000 and COMEDK rank of 31,000 make securing CSE in top-tier colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, or MSRIT highly unlikely, as these institutes typically close CSE admissions below ranks 3,000 in KCET and 7,000 in COMEDK. For KCET, ranks above 20,000 generally limit options to mid-tier private colleges or non-CSE branches like Mechanical/Civil, with fees ranging ?1–2.5 lakhs annually. In COMEDK, ranks beyond 15,000 rarely secure CSE seats in reputable colleges, and fees are significantly higher (?2.5–4 lakhs annually). VIT-AP’s CSE program, with an 80% placement rate and average packages of ?5–6 LPA, offers a more assured pathway compared to uncertain KCET/COMEDK outcomes. Given the low probability of securing CSE through counselling and VIT-AP’s established placements, proceeding with VIT-AP is advisable. All the BEST for your Son's Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Hello sir my son got cse and business systems at vit vellore. And electronucs with vlsi in thapar. Chances of upgradatipn are in thaparin second round. His MITscore us 114. PCM is 95%. Jee score is 91.75 percentile. Waiting for comdek. HS j&k. What should we go for? What are the chances of getting cse in any good college? He is also appearing for bit sat exam. But keeping in view strong competition at bitsat....it is difficult to get cse. What should we go for?
Ans: Order of Preference: Thapar, followed by COMKED (if he scores below AIR-1500 to target top 3-4 Karnataka Colleges), BITS needs minimum 310 for CSE. As a value-added information, Here is, How to Predict Your Chances of Admission into NIT or IIIT or GFTI After JEE Main/Advanced Results – A Step-by-Step Guide

Providing precise admission chances for each student can be challenging. Some reputed educational websites offer ‘College Predictor’ tools where you can check possible college options based on your percentile, category, and preferences. However, for a more accurate understanding, here’s a simple yet effective 9-step method using JoSAA’s past-year opening and closing ranks. This approach gives you a fair estimate (though not 100% exact) of your admission chances based on the previous year’s data.

Step-by-Step Guide to Check Your Admission Chances Using JoSAA Data
Step 1: Collect Your Key Details
Before starting, note down the following details:

Your JEE Main percentile
Your category (General-Open, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, PwD categories)
Preferred institute types (NIT, IIIT, GFTI)
Preferred locations (or if you're open to any location in India)
List of at least 3 preferred academic programs (branches) as backups (instead of relying on just one option)
Step 2: Access JoSAA’s Official Opening & Closing Ranks
Go to Google and type: JoSAA Opening & Closing Ranks 2024
Click on the first search result (official JoSAA website).
You will land directly on JoSAA’s portal, where you can enter your details to check past-year cutoffs.
Step 3: Select the Round Number
JoSAA conducts five rounds of counseling.
For a safer estimate, choose Round 4, as most admissions are settled by this round.
Step 4: Choose the Institute Type
Select NIT, IIIT, or GFTI, depending on your preference.
If you are open to all types of institutes, check them one by one instead of selecting all at once.
Step 5: Select the Institute Name (Based on Location)
It is recommended to check institutes one by one, based on your preferred locations.
Avoid selecting ‘ALL’ at once, as it may create confusion.
Step 6: Select Your Preferred Academic Program (Branch)
Enter the branches you are interested in, one at a time, in your preferred order.
Step 7: Submit and Analyze Results
After selecting the relevant details, click the ‘SUBMIT’ button.
The system will display Opening & Closing Ranks of the selected institute and branch for different categories.
Step 8: Note Down the Opening & Closing Ranks
Maintain a notebook or diary to record the Opening & Closing Ranks for each institute and branch you are interested in.
This will serve as a quick reference during JoSAA counseling.
Step 9: Adjust Your Expectations on a Safer Side
Since Opening & Closing Ranks fluctuate slightly each year, always adjust the numbers for safety.
Example Calculation:
If the Opening & Closing Ranks for NIT Delhi | Mechanical Engineering | OPEN Category show 8622 & 26186 (for Home State), consider adjusting them to 8300 & 23000 (on a safer side).
If the Female Category rank is 34334 & 36212, adjust it to 31000 & 33000.
Follow this approach for Other State candidates and different categories.
Pro Tip: Adjust your expected rank slightly lower than the previous year's cutoffs for realistic expectations during JoSAA counseling.

Can This Method Be Used for JEE April & JEE Advanced?
Yes! You can repeat the same steps after your April JEE Main results to refine your admission possibilities.
You can also follow a similar process for JEE Advanced cutoffs when applying for IITs.

Have some other options also as back-ups instead of relying only on JEE/JoSAA.

Robotics and automation at symbiosis pune or cse/ai-ml at Chandigarh University, which would be a better option. Please Guide
Ans: Madhav, Robotics and Automation at Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) Pune offers a multidisciplinary curriculum with hands-on training in industry-sponsored labs, compulsory six-month internships, and opportunities for semester exchange, resulting in an average placement package of ?11.29 LPA and a 77% placement rate in 2024, with top recruiters including Microsoft, Cummins, and Deloitte. However, the course is relatively new, and placements are still stabilizing. In contrast, Chandigarh University’s CSE/AI-ML program, developed in collaboration with IBM and Microsoft, provides a robust, industry-aligned curriculum, global certifications, and advanced labs, with placements exceeding 90% and top offers from Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, and Wipro. The AI/ML sector is experiencing rapid growth, and CU’s strong industry partnerships and research opportunities ensure graduates are highly employable in both national and international tech markets. Fees are comparable—?12 lakh at SIT Pune and ?13.2 lakh at CU UP campus—with both offering modern infrastructure and active placement cells.

Recommendation: Choose CSE/AI-ML at Chandigarh University for broader career prospects, superior placement outcomes, and direct alignment with the fast-growing tech sector; opt for Robotics and Automation at SIT Pune only if you have a specific passion for robotics and automation and value hands-on multidisciplinary training in a core engineering environment. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

What to choose for cse manipal or nmit
Ans: Rohit, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) offers a nationally recognized CSE program with a flexible, industry-aligned curriculum covering AI, ML, cybersecurity, and data science, supported by world-class labs, innovation centers, and a vibrant coding culture. MIT’s placement record is robust, with 73–77% overall placement in 2024–25, over 230 recruiters, and CSE-specific placement rates typically exceeding the institute average, with leading companies like Amazon, Bosch, and Wells Fargo participating. NMIT Bangalore’s CSE program is also well-regarded, featuring modern infrastructure, AR/VR labs, and a faculty experienced in emerging technologies. The 2024 CSE placement rate at NMIT was an impressive 93.48%, with top recruiters including Capgemini, Boeing, Infosys, and Wipro, and a highest package of ?47 LPA. Both colleges offer strong industry connections and practical training, but MIT Manipal stands out for its higher national ranking, broader alumni network, more diverse campus life, and greater exposure to global opportunities. NMIT is an excellent choice for those seeking a focused, Bangalore-based experience with strong placement outcomes and hands-on technical training.

Recommendation: Choose Manipal Institute of Technology for CSE if you value national reputation, flexible curriculum, and broader industry exposure; opt for NMIT Bangalore if you prioritize high placement rates, modern labs, and a strong technical focus in a Bangalore setting. Both are excellent, but MIT Manipal offers a more versatile and prestigious platform for long-term career growth. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
