Hi I got 83.34 percentile. Which engg colleges and what branches I can get. Thanks

Ans: To get a fair idea which all colleges & branches you might get, follow 2-3 simple steps. Type in google, 'josaa opening and closing ranks 2024'. Click the first result of JoSAA site. Choose the options, Round Number (5), Institute Type (ALL), Institute Name (Begin searching with your preferred Home State / Other States' Located Institutes), Academic Program (choose ALL option), Seat Type / Category (GEN/SC/ST whatever you belong to). Try to improve for April Session and also have Plan B & Plan C as back-ups by appearing for 5-7 other Engineering Entrance Exams, instead of relying only on JEE. Hi Sir, My son got 88 percentile in session 2. Pl suggest what engg college can be applied with this score.
Ans: Tarun Sir, Here is, How to Predict Your Son's Chances of Admission into NIT or IIIT or GFTI After JEE Main Results – A Step-by-Step Guide.

Providing precise admission chances for each student can be challenging. Some reputed educational websites offer ‘College Predictor’ tools where you can check possible college options based on your percentile, category, and preferences. However, for a more accurate understanding, here’s a simple yet effective 9-step method using JoSAA’s past-year opening and closing ranks. This approach gives you a fair estimate (though not 100% exact) of your Son's admission chances based on the previous year’s data.

Step-by-Step Guide to Check Your Admission Chances Using JoSAA Data
Step 1: Collect Your Son's Key Details
Before starting, note down the following details:

His JEE Main percentile | Convert the Percentile to AIR, based on the Formula available in Google.
His category (General-Open, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, PwD categories)
His Preferred institute types (NIT, IIIT, GFTI)
His Preferred locations (or if you're open to any location in India)
List of at least his 3 preferred academic programs (branches) as backups (instead of relying on just one option)
Step 2: Access JoSAA’s Official Opening & Closing Ranks
Go to Google and type: JoSAA Opening & Closing Ranks 2024
Click on the first search result (official JoSAA website).
You will land directly on JoSAA’s portal, where you can enter your details to check past-year cutoffs.
Step 3: Select the Round Number
JoSAA conducts five rounds of counseling.
For a safer estimate, choose Round 4, as most admissions are settled by this round.
Step 4: Choose the Institute Type
Select NIT, IIIT, or GFTI, depending on your preference.
If your son is open to all types of institutes, check them one by one instead of selecting all at once.
Step 5: Select the Institute Name (Based on Location)
It is recommended to check institutes one by one, based on your preferred locations.
Avoid selecting ‘ALL’ at once, as it may create confusion.
Step 6: Select Your Son's Preferred Academic Program (Branch)
Enter the branches your son is interested in, one at a time, in your preferred order.
Step 7: Submit and Analyze Results
After selecting the relevant details, click the ‘SUBMIT’ button.
The system will display Opening & Closing Ranks of the selected institute and branch for different categories.
Step 8: Note Down the Opening & Closing Ranks
Maintain a notebook or diary to record the Opening & Closing Ranks for each institute and branch your son is interested in.
This will serve as a quick reference during JoSAA counseling.
Step 9: Adjust his Expectations on a Safer Side
Since Opening & Closing Ranks fluctuate slightly each year, always adjust the numbers for safety.
Example Calculation:
If the Opening & Closing Ranks for NIT Delhi | Mechanical Engineering | OPEN Category show 8622 & 26186 (for Home State), consider adjusting them to 8300 & 23000 (on a safer side).
If the Female Category rank is 34334 & 36212, adjust it to 31000 & 33000.
Follow this approach for Other State candidates and different categories.
Pro Tip: Adjust your son's expected rank slightly lower than the previous year's cutoffs for realistic expectations during JoSAA counseling.

Can This Method Be Used for JEE April & JEE Advanced?
Yes! You can repeat the same steps after your April JEE Main results to refine your admission possibilities.
You can also follow a similar process for JEE Advanced cutoffs when applying for IITs for your son.

I got 96.52 percentile in mht cet which college will I get
Ans: Tulasi, With a 96.52 percentile in MHT CET 2025, you can expect a rank between 3,500 and 8,000, making you eligible for several reputable engineering colleges in Maharashtra, particularly for branches like Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, and some IT/CSE programs in later rounds. While top government colleges such as COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai typically require percentiles above 98 for CSE, you have strong chances for branches like ECE, IT, and Mechanical in other respected institutions. Colleges likely available at this percentile include Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering Pune, Vidyavardhini’s College of Engineering and Technology Mumbai, Shri Neminath Jain Bhhramcharyashram Nashik, DY Patil Institute of Technology Pune, JSPM Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering Pune, MIT Pune, PCCOE Pune, VIT Pune, and Sanjeevan Engineering and Technology Institute Panhala. You may also get CSE or IT in private colleges such as DY Patil, MIT Pune, and VIT Pune, especially in later CAP rounds, and can expect core engineering branches in government colleges like SGGS Nanded, WCE Sangli, and Walchand College of Engineering.

recommendation: Prioritize private colleges like DY Patil Pune, MIT Pune, VIT Pune, and JSPM Rajarshi Shahu College for CSE/IT, and consider government colleges for ECE, Mechanical, or Electrical branches. Participate actively in all CAP rounds to maximize your chances of securing a top branch in a reputed college. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Sir, My daughter has got seat in btech cse cybersecurity in vit vellore campus for cat 5 and btech cse ( Ai and data science) in sastra Thanjavur campus. Which one would be better to prefer?
Ans: VIT Vellore’s BTech CSE (Cyber Security) is nationally ranked (#11 NIRF 2024), A++ NAAC accredited, and offers a specialized curriculum with strong industry orientation in digital forensics, ethical hacking, and security analytics. The program has a placement rate of 60–65% for Cyber Security, with average packages around ?9.9 LPA and top recruiters from IT governance and security consulting. SASTRA’s BTech CSE (AI & Data Science) is also well-regarded for its academic rigor, modern curriculum, and affordable fees, focusing on machine learning, data mining, and AI-driven applications. SASTRA maintains high placement rates (over 90% in CSE) and is known for a supportive campus environment, though it is less prominent nationally compared to VIT. Both programs offer strong technical foundations, but VIT’s national reputation, global alumni network, and exposure to high-end recruiters in cybersecurity provide an edge for students seeking broader opportunities and industry recognition. SASTRA’s AI & Data Science program is ideal for those interested in analytics, AI, and research-driven roles, with a structured curriculum and good placement support, but with a more regional brand presence.

recommendation: Prefer VIT Vellore CSE (Cyber Security) for its national ranking, industry connections, and broader placement opportunities, especially if your daughter is interested in cybersecurity or IT governance. Choose SASTRA CSE (AI & Data Science) if she is more inclined toward AI, analytics, and a research-focused environment with strong placement support and lower fees. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Could you please suggest how is DJ Sanghvi college for CS branch. My brother has secure 97.75 percentile in MHT CET. What are his chances for getting ICT Chemical at this percentile
Ans: Trushali, DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE) in Mumbai is highly regarded for its Computer Science branch, consistently achieving 95–100% placement rates with top recruiters like JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Amazon, and TCS, and an average package of ?8–11 LPA. The CSE department is NBA-accredited, features modern labs, experienced faculty, and a curriculum aligned with industry needs, supporting strong outcomes for both placements and higher studies. Students benefit from a vibrant campus, excellent infrastructure, and active technical clubs, though hostel options are limited and costly. With a 97.75 percentile in MHT CET, your brother is well-positioned for admission to top private colleges for IT and CS branches, including DJSCE. However, for ICT Mumbai’s flagship Chemical Engineering program, the cutoff for the General category has consistently been above 99.3 percentile in the last three years, and even for OBC and other reserved categories, the cutoff remains above 97.2–98.2 percentile. At 97.75 percentile, admission to ICT Mumbai Chemical Engineering is unlikely, as the cutoff is typically higher than this mark, but he may have a chance in other ICT branches like Dyestuff or Polymer Engineering, where cutoffs are slightly lower.

recommendation: DJ Sanghvi is an excellent choice for Computer Science, offering strong placements, industry connections, and modern infrastructure. Admission to ICT Mumbai Chemical Engineering is unlikely at 97.75 percentile, but your brother should consider DJSCE CSE or IT for the best career prospects in engineering and technology. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Iit delhi chemical or engineering physucs
Ans: Nidhi, Both Chemical Engineering and Engineering Physics at IIT Delhi offer strong academic and career prospects, with the institute maintaining a 90% overall BTech placement rate in recent years and a median salary of ?20 LPA across branches. Chemical Engineering provides a broad curriculum covering process design, thermodynamics, and industry-relevant skills, leading to diverse roles in petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, energy, and environmental sectors, with a 91% placement rate in 2023. Engineering Physics is more interdisciplinary, blending advanced physics with engineering, and is ideal for students interested in research, technology development, or higher studies, with an 82.9% placement rate in 2023 and a reputation for graduates excelling in both industry and academia. Engineering Physics graduates often pursue careers in R&D, core technology firms, or continue to prestigious postgraduate programs in India and abroad. Both branches benefit from IIT Delhi’s robust industry connections, active alumni network, and international placement opportunities, but Chemical Engineering offers a wider range of direct industry roles, while Engineering Physics is better suited for those passionate about research, innovation, or emerging tech fields.

recommendation: Choose Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi if you seek a versatile engineering degree with broad industry opportunities and strong placement rates; opt for Engineering Physics if you are deeply interested in physics, research, or technology innovation, and are open to pursuing higher studies or specialized technical roles. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Is CSE in SRM, KTR or BVP, Pune better ?
Ans: Amit, SRM Kattankulathur (KTR) and Bharati Vidyapeeth Pune (BVP) both offer strong CSE programs, but SRM KTR stands out for its national reputation, NAAC A++ accreditation, and extensive industry connections, with over 1,300 recruiters and a placement rate of 83–95% in recent years. SRM’s CSE department is known for its research, hands-on learning, and active student associations focused on AI, data science, and software development. BVP Pune also boasts high placement rates (90–99%) and a robust curriculum that integrates AI, ML, and cybersecurity, with top recruiters such as TCS, Amazon, Infosys, and IBM. BVP’s CSE faculty is experienced, and the campus offers modern infrastructure and strong industry partnerships, but its national brand recognition and alumni network are somewhat more regional compared to SRM. Both colleges provide excellent placement training, internships, and industry projects, but SRM’s larger scale and global exposure give it an edge for students seeking wider career opportunities.

recommendation: Prefer SRM KTR for CSE if you value national reputation, global exposure, and a broader industry network; choose BVP Pune if you prefer a focused, supportive environment with strong placements and a solid curriculum, especially if you want to stay in western India. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
