Ans: Kajal, With an OBC rank of 11,548 in the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025, securing admission to IISERs is challenging but not completely out of reach for some of the newer or less competitive campuses. IISER Pune and Kolkata typically have highly competitive cutoffs with OBC closing ranks around 250-500, making admission unlikely there with your rank. However, campuses like IISER Berhampur, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Bhopal have historically admitted OBC candidates with ranks extending up to around 15,000 to 20,000, improving your chances notably at these institutions. These IISERs maintain excellent academic standards, experienced faculty, good infrastructure, active research, and strong governance. Choosing any of these IISERs would provide a quality science education with ample opportunities for research and career growth in fundamental and applied sciences.

Recommendation: Given your OBC rank, targeting IISER Berhampur, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram, or Bhopal would be the most realistic and promising option for admission in 2025, offering strong education and research opportunities comparable to older IISERs but with more accessible cutoffs suitable for your rank. Act promptly during counseling rounds to maximize seat allotment chances. However, it is advisable to have 2-3 more back-up options insteady of relying only on IAT-IISER. It is gastro colic reflex and reduces as age increases. If the stools are normal in consistency then nothing to worry. But if bulky, foul smelling then test for celiac disease

Ans: Swarupa Madam, With an EWS rank of 8,180 and a 96.45 percentile, your son has a good chance of admission to several NIT, IIIT, and GFTI programs. However, securing top CSE seats at premier NITs and IIITs remains challenging. Recent JoSAA data shows that IIITM Gwalior's CSE closes around rank 8,044 in the general/all-India category, while ECE and related branches at newer IIITs often close at higher ranks, making them more attainable options. For NITs, CSE admission at top campuses is highly competitive, but ECE or other lower-demand branches at newer NITs and GFTIs could be realistic.

For VIT Vellore or Chennai, CSE admission depends on a strong VITEEE rank, as JEE Main ranks are not considered there.

It is advisable to keep backup options such as IIITM Gwalior, IIIT Nagpur, IIITDM Jabalpur, NITs for lower-demand branches, and reputable private colleges like VIT, LNCT, SGSITS, and LNMIIT, depending on the entrance exam route.

Ans: Rajesh Sir, With your son's rank, securing a CSE seat in NITs or IIITs is highly unlikely, as recent JoSAA data shows that closing ranks for top and mid-tier CSE programs are much lower. Even many ECE seats at IIITM Gwalior close well before this rank. Realistically, government college options would be limited to lower branches in newer NITs or GFTIs, or ECE/IT-type branches in select newer IIITs, rather than CSE at better institutes. For Madhya Pradesh, IIITM Gwalior remains an option for non-CSE branches, but CSE is out of reach at this rank. Additionally, please review the JoSAA opening and closing ranks from the last 2-3 years to gain further insights and better understand admission trends.

Ans: Sreenivas Sir, Your son might get NIT Warangal ECE Branch, but CSE is extremely unlikely at AIR 23,568. NIT Warangal’s 2024 open-category closing ranks were about 1,899 for CSE and around 4,979–5,099 for ECE, while 2023 last-round cutoffs still stayed well within the low thousands for these branches. So, for a Telangana home-state candidate, ECE at NIT Warangal is possible only if the final round stretches, but CSE is not realistic. For top IIITs, CSE is generally too competitive, but ECE may be possible in newer or mid-tier IIITs such as IIITs in Guwahati, Sri City, Kota, Sonepat, Una, or similar depending on round and category trends. Additionally, please review the JoSAA opening and closing ranks from the last 2-3 years to gain further insights and better understand admission trends. If possible and desired, consider selecting 2-3 reputable engineering colleges as backup options through State Engineering Counselling, especially if your son is primarily targeting the CSE or ECE branches. Ans: You have not mentioned your home state. Anyway, please note, with EWS rank 49,360 and CRL 3,25,000, CSE in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is very unlikely because recent JoSAA and CSAB cutoff trends show CSE closing ranks are usually much better than this, and even many IIIT CSE seats close below your range. Your better chances are in lower-demand branches at newer NITs or GFTIs or in non-CSE branches such as Mechanical, Civil, Production, or Metallurgy if you want a government seat. The sensible backup plan is to apply in all JoSAA and CSAB rounds, keep newer NITs and lower-demand branches open, and also prepare strong state counselling and private-college options. If your goal is specifically CSE, a good private university may be a more realistic path than waiting for a highly competitive government seat. ALL the BEST for Your Prosperous Future!

Similarly, CSE admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs is not realistic at this rank, even considering home-state or reserved-category seats, since CSAB closing ranks for CSE in many such institutions are much lower.

Better backup options include pursuing other branches such as Electrical Engineering, ECE, Mechanical, or Chemical at HBTU, IET, or other UP government colleges. Alternatively, you may consider private colleges in Uttar Pradesh through UPTAC for CSE, AI, or IT programs. My son got 87 percentile in JEE Main and has 202681 ranks in general category and 97.1% marks in intermediate from Telangana. Please suggest me that I can get admission in CSE and ECE branch in IIITs and good private university with good placement record and can also get admission in any government university.

Ans: Chances of CSE/ECE @ Top NITs/IIITs are Nil. Target good private universities like VIT or SRM and consider state govt colleges in Telangana via the board quota.
