Ans: Geethika, Prefer AIML. If you get CSE (Core) in a much better college, advisable to join. Later, after 2-3rd year, you can go for specialization either in the college or with additional CERTIFICATIONS. Give preference to Location also. All the BEST Geethika.

can i give jee mains and advanced exam in 2026 if i wrote my class 12th exams firstly in 2024 but failed in them and again give class12th exam from nios board and scored 80% in between i had given jee mains in both the year 2024 and 2025 but didnt qualified for jee advanced in any year so can i write jee mains and advanced in 2026 and finally go to iit?

Ans: No, you can’t. You’ve already used your two allowed JEE Advanced attempts (2024 and 2025), so you can write JEE Main in 2026 but not JEE Advanced.

Suggestion: Focus on JEE (Mains) or state-level entrance tests for better prospects and a higher chance of securing a seat in a good engineering college. Getting admission in one of the top NITs is also equivalent to IIT.

Hi Sir, I am an NRI (Indian Citizen) for the past 4 years. My questions are as follows - 1. What is the process to reactivate the PF account since the last contribution was in 2021? 2. Is it prudent to keep the PF account since I am planning to comeback to India after few years? Or should I withdraw and apply for another PF once I return and get a job in India?

Ans: Hi Joy,

Being an NRI, you cannot keep your EPF account active. Hence it is advisable for you to withdraw the entire balance immediately without waiting.
If the account is a PPF account, it can remain activated till its tenure of 15 years is completed. You can contribute in the same till that time. Also inform bank about the change in your residency status. And PPF account must be closed upon maturity.

And yes, you can open a new PPF when you return to India.

No, you generally cannot claim back the capital gains tax you have already paid for a property sale in 2023, even if you now plan to buy a new house. The time-bound conditions for claiming capital gains exemption under Section 54 must be met before you file your income tax return for the year of the sale.

Sir, I am 60 years old and currently working. My PF account started in April 2015 and runs until May 2025. Now, no money is deposited into the PF account. Am I eligible for a pension?

Ans: Yes, you are eligible as you meet the basic criteria of 10 years of service and 60 years age.
Kindly submit form 10D on the EPFO Portal using your UAN number. Or you can visit the EPFO nearest to you to submit the form.

Good to see your dedication towards investments. Although the overall amount and potential to increase investments in good. But the funds selection is average.
Invest 8k in a largecap fund,7k in midcap, 5k in small cap, 5k in multicap and 5k in Baf. Avoid investing in current funds.

You can choose to consult an advisor to get exact fund names. Or can consult a professional Certified Financial Planner - a CFP who can guide you with exact funds to invest in keeping in mind your age, requirements, financial goals and risk profile.

My parents want to gift me their inherited properties like house, site & commercial building. Should i pay capital gain tax if i sell the site if my parents have purchased in 1980 & 2015.If to be paid on what basis capital gain tax to be paid bybme.

Ans: Yes. You will have to pay tax on the sale of properties. Taxation would be wrt their prices in the year 2001 and indexation benefit based on your sale date.
LTCG of 12.5% on profit will be there (1.25 lakhs exempt).
