Career

Hi I'm 32 working in my current company for past 5 years. Earlier I was assigned to some other work which I was able to do easily. For past few months I've been transferred and given different work. It's completely new to me and I'm getting a hard time understanding it. In top of that my new colleague who knows the work isn't helpful at all. Most of the time I'm stressed that I don't know how to do this work. Even my weekends go into stressing about work. Please guide me how should I come out of this situation.

If the new work assigned is going to add value to your career, then you should take it as an opportunity & give it your best shot.
It is not normal to feel uneasy when you are pushed out of your comfort zone but the real learning happens then only. Am sure there will be others around you whom you can approach for help or look at online options since nowadays everything is available on online platforms.
But just stressing/quitting won't help. We take inspiration from our tough battles fought well regardless of outcomes.

Hi i completed my btech in civil engineering in 2012 and masters in2014 initially I was working in teaching field upto 2017 every thing went on well due to delay in salary ishifted job to site engineer till now I'm facing lot of problems in my job weither be my mistake of pressure from superiors I'married and have a kid im willing to change job but couldn't change because of job unavailability I m will to go software filed what should I do im not able to understand pls help

Civil Engineering is the foundational engineering discipline and lends itself to use of new tools and technologies through use of of software to build structures using design elements that use newer materials to build infrastructure, homes, industrial townships that further sustainability. Look that gaining software skills used in Civil Engg field to add value to your current job. Look at acquiring project management skills and explore opportunities with optimism and passion.

Hi Iam 29 years old,started worked in IT with fake experience when I am 26, until now I am unable to figure out my tasks in the work, I am not understanding the work, unable meet the expectations in the assigned tasks. Kindly suggest how can come out of this loop?.

I won't talk about your fake experience and all. You too don't go back in time and revisit it!! This is not going to help you. Just look ahead now..
You were 26 and now you are 29, you have 03 years experience now, right?
Like I said in the beginning itself, forget the past... sit down calmly in a comfortable place and list out all that you need to learn in order to meet the expectations.... start learning them, keep it simple, that's all you need to do now...LEARN. Spend some extra time, energy in learning. Seek out seniors to help, check online if you can learn something that will help you perform well.

Just go ahead and learn ...

I am btech graduate and have good industry IT experience in development in TCS with 15 lpa, but parents pressurized to take government job , and i got a government job of junior assistant at pay level 3 but i am not liking the job as there is no respect and our senior ask to fill the water bottle , i want to switch to IT for my future? Still i confused?

Ans: I am quite surprised - "our senior ask to fill the water bottle". Simply deny doing that. Do your work seriously for which you are paid. Give departmental exam for promotion. You can prepare yourself for Indian civil service exam. Do not leave Govt. job.

I am 58 + years old who retired from government service after working for 36 years. I had done M.E mechanical and worked in the marine field. I am a pensioner who is financially sound and with no liabilities. I have a good fitness routine in the morning as well as in the evening , however I find it difficult to pass my time in the day and want to make it meaningful. I am done with my existing skills and keen to learn some totally new concepts and acquire skills specially in areas such as sustainable energy specially green hydrogen, solar , ethanol blending , EV etc. I may like to become a consultant or maybe start my own small venture in future to keep myself busy. I am ready to devote ample time. If nothing works out atleast I would have acquired knowledge in areas which interest me. How do I go about acquiring the new skills.

Ans: The best way to acquire skill is to see NPTEL videos. Its free. If you want certificates then you have to give exam. Cost is very less. Normally professors from IITs teach these courses and you will get certificates from IITs.
