Ans: With 314 marks in BITSAT 2026, Pilani CSE is possible but not guaranteed. Recent Pilani CSE cutoffs have been around 304–327 marks, varying by year and iteration. Since he did not clear the JEE Advanced cutoff, I would not recommend a drop only for IIT unless he has a strong reason and is confident of a major improvement. My suggestion: Prefer getting admission into BITS for CSE or ECE for BE and also try for any one of the dual degree programs (if the fee is affordable—around 7-8 lacs/year) or try to get admission into any one of the good NITs/IIITs/GFTIs for the CSE branch through JoSAA, based on his JEE Main rank. It is better to avoid taking a drop. Not much recommended. Hope your son would have filled in the maximum number of choices, including dual-degree options.
