My son has secured 92.8 in 12th, he wants to do BSc Physics and persue a career in research. He scured 166 in BITS and overall rank of 50669 in IAT.We are general category. Is there any chance of him getting admission in BITS or IISER. Also if you can recommend good colleges for BSc physics in Bangalore.
Ans: Pushpa Madam, admission to BITS or IISER is unlikely for the general category with a BITS score of 166 (historically, MSc Physics cutoffs are above 220) and an IAT rank of 50,669 (IISER general cutoffs are around 8,700). However, a strong 12th score of 92.8% opens opportunities at top Bangalore research colleges such as St. Joseph's University (B.Sc. Physics), Christ University (B.Sc. Physics), Mount Carmel College, and M.S. Ramaiah University, all known for good academics and infrastructure. For pure research, your son should also consider pursuing pathways to IISc through JAM/GATE after graduation, focusing on projects, internships, and MSc at IISc, IITs, or TIFR. All The Best for Your Son's Prosperous Future!
