My son's rank in Main is 390 and in Advance is 970, he want to take CS only, should he take it in lower branch in IIT or in top college in NIT like Trichy , Warangal ?
Ans: Kalpesh Sir, With a JEE Main rank of 390 and JEE Advanced rank of 970, securing CSE in top NITs like Trichy (2024 cutoff: ~5,350–6,444) or Warangal (cutoff: ~3,000–4,500) is feasible, offering 95.6% and 99.4% placement rates, respectively, with recruiters like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. While IITs like Indore (CSE cutoff: ~1,633) or Gandhinagar (cutoff: ~1,200–1,500) may require opting for non-CSE branches (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical), their placement rates for these branches range 75–90%, albeit in core sectors (L&T, Tata Steel). Prioritize NIT Trichy/Warangal CSE for direct entry into tech roles and higher placement consistency, as IIT non-CSE branches may limit career alignment with software/AI aspirations. Confirm curriculum flexibility and internship support during counselling, balancing institutional prestige with branch relevance. All the BEST for your Admission & a Prosperous Future!
