Hi, mine is a weird question. I am a male and have crossed 60 two days back. I am diabetic(under control with medicine), having Hypothyroid and HTN. I do not notice any significant change in myself. The same flamboyance, agility is still there. But people around me advise that I should now move about a bit slowly and carefully as I am now 60+. Kindly advise.

Ans: Age is just a number. But ageing process happens with oxidative stress. One may be 60, but the biological age according to the healthy physiological system may be like in 50 s. Ageing process is unavoidable, particularly eating everything and crossing the limitations of the physical causes more oxidative stress. So please take care of your lifestyle. With a healthy lifestyle you can age gracefully with good quality of life.

I am 60 years male and diabetic weighing 70/72 kg and height 5'7".I am on Rosuvastatin 10+Fenofibrate160, Eltroxin 125. and diabetic. My latest Blood Test report are as follows.1) Cholestorel 99, TGL 92,HDL 33. HbA1C 6.7, TSH 1.363. Even when the Chol,TGL level are well within range. I find my HDL is quite low. How do I increase it given my other lipid levels are within range? Thanking You

Ans: HDL is increased by eating more essential fatty acids like in nuts and seeds, Niacin and most importantly with exercise, especially cardio, like running/ swimming/cycling or brisk walking.

I am nearing 60 years old male having diabetes, HTN and Hypothyroid and without any specific workout . Not short of any energy till date and sexually very much active. Whenever situation helps I enjoy passionate sex with my wife. Six months ago my wife and me were on a one day tour we had sex thrice in 24 hours. Is it normal?

Ans: Dear Nirmalya,
As long as your body supports your sexual activity, why not?
But of course, all the physical ailments that you mentioned and lifestyle ailments and working out or some work of exercise other than sex can help keeping it within the prescribed range.
It's very rare that a couple share the same level of interest and ability in sexual intimacy. So, enjoy this BUT health is important as well. So, do take care of your health as a priority.

I am 58 year old male and very much active.Three months back my HbA1c was recorded at 8.8 my doctor presccribed Glycomet GP3/850 before BF and Dapasech-S(10/100) after dinner. I regularly measure Glucose level on Glucometer and I find both PP and FBS well within range even after taking sweets at times. Am I taking too much medicine?

Ans: You need to monitor HbA1c and review with your Dr. Based on the results, medications can be titrated.
