My sisters son is 5 years old..they shifted from small town to city..He cries everyday..almost everyday for everything..every day he cries..we have not hit him or frightened him anytime, still he cries..
Ans: Dear Deepak,
It could mean:
- physical discomfort like being unwell or ill-health (kindly take him to a child specialist who can rule out any vitamin deficiencies or any other physiological issue)
OR
- emotional discomfort like moving from a small town to a city can be a little frightening for a child who has not encountered so much noise and crowd. Also, he maybe missing his friends, surroundings...
Give him time to get used to it...take him out to parks, where he meets other children his age to play and run about...Family can spend time with him by distracting him towards board games and things to do around the home.
Sometimes, focusing on the problem magnifies it...de-focus and focus on something else can dull the problem at hand.
Even after all this, if he still cries, do seek professional help from someone who can go deeper into issues involving fear or phobia...I believe he just has adjustment issues in adapting to the new surrounding... But do try what I have suggested...
All the best!
