Depends upon your interest for Branch (you prefer Mechanical or CSE)? Though both Institutes are good.

If you are from Northern India, prefer Thapar for Mechanical if you are mentally prepared for the Branch.

Whatever Institute / University & Branch you choose, you should keep upgrading your skills from your 1st year itself till your Campus Placement during your last year, from NPTEL, Internshala etc. and / or any other online platforms, recommended by your College Faculties, to be COMPETENT among other Students.

Please AVOID Manipal due to some reasons like atmosphere etc. Not advisable. If you are from Northern India, Thapar is highly recommended as it is better than VIT-Vellore.
