I am 52 Years Old having Diabetes and hypertension since last 5 Years .Since 2021 Feb ,after a bout of Herpes Zoster ,i am having substantial swelling on my Left ankle .I also Had Corona in March That Year .I have Consulted Several specialists Pertaining to Heart ,Kidney and Physician as well .I was suggested Wearing Compressed socks on my Left Leg ( He ruled out Varicose Veins and deep Vein Thrombosis ) )Can you help me Regarding this
Ans: To control diabetes and hypertension, maintain your normal BMI( Body Mass Index). Exercise more than 30 minutes / day. Reduce sodium intake / day. Include 1 teaspoon(5 g of > Salt). Follow a low fat and low carbohydrate diet. Adequate high quality protein foods are important. Avoid refined carbs especially sugar, bakery items. Eat potassium rich foods ( green leafy veggies, tomatoes, coconut water, > lemon, orange, banana, dates, etc. to lower hypertension. Avoid high glycemic foods like sweets, fried foods, alcohol, savouries, etc. Include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet to increase the fiber content and blunt blood sugar spikes. Exercise regularly.
