Sir, going to the ssb coaching prior to attending SSBs seems to have become a norm rather than an exception (as it used to be). With this backdrop and equally cut-throat (if not more) competition, what chance does a person choosing not to go for any such "coaching" have at any SSB these days ?
And if he/she does stand a fair chance, is any "preparation" required at all ? If yes, what would that entail ?
Ans: Personally, I do not think that there is any coaching required for SSB. Most of the coaching centres try and tell you short cuts to success and these do not work most of the time. Having been the president of an SSB for 3 years and seen thousands of candidates, I can tell you with confidence that a badly coached candidate tends to lose more than an untrained one!
Yes, once must know what one has to go through and prepare for the various tests which assess your ‘personality’, that by and large does not change with coaching.
A candidate needs to go through 8 to 10 hours of coaching prior to the SSB with a good guide and that’s sufficient… my opinion!
