Dr Hemalatha Arora,
I am a 64-year-old male. In 1996, due to a severe accident, I had to undergo 4 major operations for my right leg. I lost hope that I can walk again but somehow due to the Ilizarov method the infected bones healed but it is short by 1.5 inches and had permanent stiffness. Prior to my accident, I was just 58 Kg but after the accident, my weight has steadily increased to 90 Kgs. I get tired and cannot work as I intend to. During my 50's I did work hard as I am in the field of Laboratory products. I suspect it may be due to hypothyroidism although results showed that it is within limits. Do BP tablet mask the actual Thyroid results. My rice intake is minimal. this overweight is leading to all sorts of problems. Just today I found that my fasting and Post Prandial sugar levels are also high. Please advise..

Ans: Hello. You will need a proper dietary consultation to streamline your diet and induce weight loss. Intermittent fasting maybe a good place to begin alongwith giving up sugar and refined carbs. Please consult a dietician/ physician for a thorough evaluation and plan of care.
