For the question: "My parents are looking for grooms who are 10 years elder to me. I don't connect with the person at all. How to convince parents I am not interested in marrying a random stranger simply because he is well settled, has a good job and parents. I am 24, I want to work, travel, have my own experiences. my parents dont want me to date anyone, just get married. How is this fair? Am I asking something wrong?", One very important point you missed adding is that whether the person wants to marry at all. There are increasingly women who want to not marry and unsettle themselves. And it is her choice. Parents cannot force marriage on her. If they do, it can become a police case too of forced marriage.

Ans: Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for starting a healthy debate; your points are well taken.
I would also add that: when one is financially independent, then taking decisions for oneself is almost accepted by parents; when one makes a lot of noise without that financial backing, the parents assume they must step in and take charge...
I am not sure which question you are referring to, but keeping the cops out of this is wiser...anything that comes from a space of anger is just ego in place; who is going to benefit by involving the cops?

Hi..I just saw your page and found this is the right page where I can get answer.. I am so confused and so my thoughts coming in my mind and noone in my life which I can tell. However, I found you hopefully you'll get my answer I want to marry with my partner but he is not earning as much and I'm also earning but we both started our career in 2023. And my parents wants I should get Marry with someone and he is searching. But I told my parents that I love someone but the issue is he is not from my caste that is not the big issue main issue is that my partner belongs from very nuclear family like his mother and sister is there and noone is there in his family and my parents also saying the boy is not earning a good salary and noone is there in his family how will you be happy and I don't think so he is good for you.. but my partner loves me so much he loves me till 6 years and he waited for me also. My question is that for getting a married is all this stuff matters ? My parents is arising so many questions somehow she denied..should I convince to my parents or they are saying right ??
Ans: The salary is not a problem, if he doesn’t have misplaced ego about his wife earning more than him; some men are broad-minded enough to even be proud of their wives earning more. Nor is caste; love has no fixed faith. But this nuclear family business is a red flag; I would strictly advice not living under the same roof with his mother and sister. There is bound to be friction. Then relations sour and your marriage gets strained. If he is willing to step out from under their shadow and live separately with you, and the money-making is not an issue for him, you’re making the right choice of partner. If either of the above is not realistic, I would suggest you stop trying to convince your parents and listen to what they have to say.

Hie I need an advice about marriage, I am 28 years old and wants to marry a guy who is younger than me, however earns good salary. Also we are from different caste. I am afraid of having conversation about this with my parents and also I am confused that how to have this conversation with my parents. He loves me a lot and always support me. Also i got engaged with different person (arranged marriage), however that person broke the engagement and now I wont be able to trust and give chance to a new person to come into my life.
Ans: Dear Anonymous,
Why exactly did you get engaged with someone else when you say that you are in love with another person?
I don't get this...Have the conversation with you parents stating clearly what you want. Yes, your parents will and might oppose it for whatever reason, but if you and the boy are serious, then pursue it...
Then where is the question of a new person coming and your trusting etc. From your email/letter, one thing is clear to me is that: you have no idea what you want. You love someone and say that you want to marry him and then you go and get engaged to someone else and now you are wondering if you can trust someone new.
What is going on? What happens to your 'guy'? Are you serious about that relationship at all?
I think you really need to first sit and have a conversation with yourself and then talk to your parents, yeah?

Hi Ma'am, I got married few years back to my boyfriend. It was an intercaste marriage to which my parents opposed very strongly. They tried doing everything from verbal abuse, emotional abuse, guilt tripping, calling names, blaming my education to even asking me to leave my job. But with my elder brothers support I was able to still go ahead and got married to him. Today my parents love my partner a lot and are very happy with the very same person and his family which they were earlier opposing to due to fear of what others will say to this intercaste marriage. But today there is a similar situation built up at home with my brother's wedding. He is in his 30s and parents are concerned of getting him married asap. He told them about his girlfriend from other caste which was okay with the parents but they didnt like the girl purely from looks. They are concerned now that people will question them why you bought such a bride for your son and that they had so many beautiful prospects to which they said NO and now will be making this girl a bride of the house which will open them to mockery of others. They have not even met the girl but only after seeing photos they are so negative and again hurting us as well as themselves by saying lot of negative toxic things and guilt tripping for everything they have done for us. I feel they will become happy in few years but at this point they are not even agreeing to meet the family due to which the girl's family is getting apprehensive of marrying their daughter to our family. I have been trying to convince my parents but they start saying things like you also did the same so you will obviously support and we don't want to be a part of anything. If you want to get married go ahead and do it but don't expect us to be a part of it. What should I be doing?
Ans: Dear Anonymous,
Your parents like giving their children a challenging time by exerting authority and then afterwards giving in to prove that they yielded and are such good people. It may sound pretty mean, but a lot many people play this power struggle games simply to win favors. This happens in the relationship sphere in homes and work spaces.
Now, in this case, your parents may or may not come around BUT seeing the way they accepted your marriage, give your brother's situation a bit of a pause. This will help your parents know that no one is going to beg and plead them and then let them have the pleasure of saying YES.
It will also enable you and your brother to work in the background as to how to make the girls' side of the family and your parents to meet. So, take a bit of a backseat that will also aid in letting your parents breathe. Wait it out a bit and then work with your parents gently to address their concerns and then eventually make the parents meet. A bit of patience...

Ans: First breathe and smile

Unsure the kind of relationship you share with parents.
Unsure if you are ready to get married now or later.

If you share a healthy realtionship with your parents let them know
- that while they are searching, you are open to meeting men but not ready to get married for another 2 years as you are looking to work all your life and wish to focus on building a strong foundation in terms of your career, so when you get married you can then focus on building a relationship vs juggling both if you marry now.

- work on your early filters and share it with your parents as they search for a boy - this may help - https://andwemet.com/blog/must-haves-vs-non-negotiables-dating-after-28explained-i-andwemet

- dont fight your parents, because the more you push the less they will listen - tell them to search in the age group you want them to be. As for those 34 - you meet them (it's sad but nothing can be done about it) and decline them if the age does not work for you.

Now something else

1) Keep in mind the man will not share his finances 'as expected by the society' even if he marries you and makes way more than you. Money is a sensitive matter and it is fair if he does not share it with you, you are marrying him and not a financial liability - however things change in 2-3 years once trust is built. A request please do not say a yes just because he makes 3 or 4 times more than you and if you do keep this point in mind.

2) Meet the men with an OPEN mind and text less, meet more, observe more - meet 7-8 times over an activity, for eg: a board game, meet his friends, introduce him to your friends etc

3) Keep in mind a healthy marriage will allow you to work, travel, have your own experiences :)

Career Counsellor - Answered on Sep 07, 2026

Career
Hello sir Can you suggest me which college should I target Based on mht cet in ACAP/SPOT ROUND For tech branch at 85 percentile Ladies obc mh candidature
Ans: Based on your MHT-CET percentile, Maharashtra candidature, OBC category and female candidature, you can consider the following colleges for ACAP/Institute-Level or Spot Round opportunities, depending on the vacancies available: A) Dream – Apply, but don’t depend much on these: 1) PCCOE, Ravet – CSE/AI-DS; 2) AISSMS IOIT, Pune – IT/E&TC; 3) MMCOE, Karvenagar – AI-DS/E&TC; 4) MIT Academy of Engineering, Alandi – CSE/IT; 5) JSPM RSCOE, Tathawade – E&TC/other technology branches. At 85 percentile, these should be treated as aspirational options, with ACAP/spot vacancies determining the actual opportunity.

B) Target – Best ACAP/Spot opportunities: Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri-Akurdi – AI-DS/E&TC; 7) Dr. D. Y. Patil Technical Campus, Talegaon – CSE/AI-DS; 8) Dhole Patil College of Engineering, Pune – IT; 9) Zeal College of Engineering & Research, Pune – AI-DS/IT; 10) Sinhgad College of Engineering, Vadgaon – IT; 11) D. Y. Patil College of Engineering, Lohegaon – AI-DS/E&TC. This should be the primary focus because these options provide a more realistic balance between college quality, technology branches and the possibility of ACAP/spot vacancies.

C) Safe – Keep as strong backups
JSPM Narhe Technical Campus – CSE/IT/AI-DS; 13) RMD Sinhgad School of Engineering – IT/AI-DS; 14) Pillai College of Engineering, New Panvel – IT/Computer; 15) Terna Engineering College, Navi Mumbai – IT/Computer; 16) SIES Graduate School of Technology, Navi Mumbai – IT/Computer. These should be maintained as practical backup choices if preferred Pune options do not materialise.

Recommended preference order: 1) DYP Talegaon CSE, 2) Dhole Patil IT, 3) Zeal AI-DS, 4) Sinhgad IT, 5) DYP Akurdi AI-DS/E&TC, 6) AISSMS IOIT E&TC, 7) PCCOE-R AI-DS, 8) JSPM Narhe CSE/IT, 9) RMD Sinhgad IT, and 10) DYP Lohegaon AI-DS/E&TC. ACAP/Institute-Level vacancies are dynamic, so these are targets rather than guaranteed admissions; Maharashtra CET Cell requires institute-level admissions to follow the prescribed admission rules and merit process.
