Relationship

My mother-in-law gets involved in almost every aspect of my married life. She has moved in with us and tells me how to manage our home and children. She has a problem -- she has an opinion on everything I do. When my husband is around, she acts innocent to get his love and attention. She is a frequent liar and this has led to frequent arguments between us. My husband is finding it difficult to balance his relationship with both of us. How can I save my marriage?

Ans: Dear Anonymous,
What if you simply nod to whatever she says and then exactly what you want.
"You may not like the way I do things at home, so maybe it will be easy if you lead the way;", slowly ease your way out of any of the tasks in this manner by filling the same time with something else to do...slowly transition things to her so that she does it the way that she wants.
Sadly the previous generation assume that the next generation need their guidance; yes they do but not in the form of instructions and demands and impositions but with a lot of love, care and support. It's hard to change that mindset, but draw boundaries to keep your sanity intact.

All the best!

I have been married for one year. My mother in law has no respect in her talking towards me. She expects me to do all the household things and she doesn't want her daughter to do any kitchen works. Most of the time I feel like she made her son marry me just to do household things. I don't need any appreciation but I can't bear her disrespectful words. And her cunning character and lies. What can I do in such situations
Ans: Dealing with a challenging mother-in-law can be a delicate situation, but it's important to address these concerns to maintain a healthy relationship with your spouse and in-lawsStart by discussing your feelings with your spouse. Share your concerns about your mother-in-law's behavior and how it's affecting you. Ensure that you both are on the same page before addressing the issue with her. When you decide to talk to your mother-in-law, pick a calm and private setting. Avoid confrontations in the heat of the moment, and try to have a rational conversation. Clearly and calmly communicate how her words and actions make you feel. Use "I" statements to express your emotions without blaming her Make it clear what behavior is unacceptable and establish boundaries. Politely but firmly communicate what you are willing and unwilling to tolerate in terms of comments and expectations. If direct communication doesn't yield positive results, consider involving a neutral third party, a trusted family member, to mediate the conversation. Strengthen your relationship with your spouse and build a support system with friends and other family members. Having a strong network can provide emotional support during challenging times. Remember, it may take time to see changes, and it's essential to approach the situation with patience and understanding. Every family dynamic is unique, and finding the right balance may require ongoing effort and communication.

Relationship
I have been married for 7 months. I stayed with my husband for 4 months. I have a decent relationship with him. But my mother in law doesn't like me at all. She finds faults and mistakes in everything that I do. I don't get any support from my husband when my mother in law criticises me or uses harsh words. She insults my parents. My husband tries to justify her behaviour when I try to discuss these issues with him. He misunderstands me and doesn't want to listen to me whenever his mother creates issues. He doesn't listen to anyone and he doesn't care about anyone apart from his mother when his mother creates problems. I work for 10 hours at office and take care of him and the household chores. He forgets all my positive sides and highlights my mistakes rudely whenever his mother comes into the picture. I don't find any solution to this. My last solution is filing for a divorce. I want to try to give my best for this relationship. But that is somehow taking a toll on my mental and physical health.
Ans: Dear Anonymous,
You have good respite from all of this while you are at office, right? And then there's the commute to work? Then there's sleep?
So, I guess your interactions with her maybe 2 hours?
For her, she's given up her son; many mothers find it hard cutting the cord from their children and in this case, your husband also has not learned to develop a personality off of her and hence putting him in between the two of you is only going to cause you more stress and invariably he will side with her; he's still getting used to another woman in his life, YOU...Don't test his love for you and compare it with his mother. It will drive him away from you.

Give this all sometime BUT DO NOT get him caught in the middle of all this. Teaching your mother-in-law to behave in a certain way maybe a huge task BUT for you to work around it without letting it bother you is what you must focus on. Possible? YES...Smart relationships are ones like these where you don't go around expecting change in the other person BUT you figure how you can work around and find your peace.
So, since you are going to be around her only for a few hours, start by simply agreeing to what she says. Initially it will be hard, but it will throw her off guard as when she sees that you are not provoked, there will come a time, when she will back off.
Her fault finding is only to prove that she is better than you and that you can't replace her in her son's life. Give her that pleasure by simply nodding your head knowing that it's not your fault. You will see a change in a few days.

The best way to bring people's guard down is to agree to what they say BUT do what you need to. It's just been a couple of months, give it sometime...things settle...

My mother-in-law is constantly creating misunderstandings between my husband and me. She often says or does things that lead to arguments, but then pretends to be innocent, making it difficult for my husband to see what is happening. She is emotionally manipulating my husband and son against me. This has started affecting our relationship and my peace of mind. How can I deal with this situation without creating more conflict in my marriage?
Ans: Hi!!

Being a wife and a daughter-in-law is not an easy job. Over and above that, having a difficult or manipulative mother-in-law can sometimes feel like too much to handle.

She is your husband’s mother, and therefore, she deserves your respect, regardless of how she behaves.

The relationship between a husband and wife is sacred. It has to be built on mutual love, respect and trust. If your relationship is built on these principles, whatever your mother-in-law may do to create misunderstandings between you and your husband, it will not be easy for her to break the bond you share. I am very sure of this.

But first, check yourself. Be truthful, honest, loving and respectful towards your husband and towards everyone around you. You really have to practise these qualities and believe in their strength. When you know that you have been genuine in your relationship, you will have the inner strength and confidence to deal with difficult situations.

Most importantly, value your happiness and peace at all costs. Learn to let go of the small things for the sake of the bigger picture. Not every situation needs a reaction. Choose your battles wisely and, in this situation, be the smarter one.

And most importantly, have a heart-to-heart conversation with your husband. Choose the right time—a time when both of you are calm, emotionally receptive and in the right frame of mind to discuss the situation as true partners.

Do not approach the conversation as “your mother versus me.” Approach it as “we are a team, and we need to protect our relationship.”

Remember, you and your husband are on the same team. When there is love, trust, respect and open communication between the two of you, outside influences have far less power over your marriage.

That, I believe, is the way forward—without creating more conflict, and while protecting both your marriage and your peace of mind.

Hello sir Can you suggest me which college should I target Based on mht cet in ACAP/SPOT ROUND For tech branch at 85 percentile Ladies obc mh candidature
Ans: Based on your MHT-CET percentile, Maharashtra candidature, OBC category and female candidature, you can consider the following colleges for ACAP/Institute-Level or Spot Round opportunities, depending on the vacancies available: A) Dream – Apply, but don’t depend much on these: 1) PCCOE, Ravet – CSE/AI-DS; 2) AISSMS IOIT, Pune – IT/E&TC; 3) MMCOE, Karvenagar – AI-DS/E&TC; 4) MIT Academy of Engineering, Alandi – CSE/IT; 5) JSPM RSCOE, Tathawade – E&TC/other technology branches. At 85 percentile, these should be treated as aspirational options, with ACAP/spot vacancies determining the actual opportunity.

B) Target – Best ACAP/Spot opportunities: Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pimpri-Akurdi – AI-DS/E&TC; 7) Dr. D. Y. Patil Technical Campus, Talegaon – CSE/AI-DS; 8) Dhole Patil College of Engineering, Pune – IT; 9) Zeal College of Engineering & Research, Pune – AI-DS/IT; 10) Sinhgad College of Engineering, Vadgaon – IT; 11) D. Y. Patil College of Engineering, Lohegaon – AI-DS/E&TC. This should be the primary focus because these options provide a more realistic balance between college quality, technology branches and the possibility of ACAP/spot vacancies.

C) Safe – Keep as strong backups
JSPM Narhe Technical Campus – CSE/IT/AI-DS; 13) RMD Sinhgad School of Engineering – IT/AI-DS; 14) Pillai College of Engineering, New Panvel – IT/Computer; 15) Terna Engineering College, Navi Mumbai – IT/Computer; 16) SIES Graduate School of Technology, Navi Mumbai – IT/Computer. These should be maintained as practical backup choices if preferred Pune options do not materialise.

Recommended preference order: 1) DYP Talegaon CSE, 2) Dhole Patil IT, 3) Zeal AI-DS, 4) Sinhgad IT, 5) DYP Akurdi AI-DS/E&TC, 6) AISSMS IOIT E&TC, 7) PCCOE-R AI-DS, 8) JSPM Narhe CSE/IT, 9) RMD Sinhgad IT, and 10) DYP Lohegaon AI-DS/E&TC. ACAP/Institute-Level vacancies are dynamic, so these are targets rather than guaranteed admissions; Maharashtra CET Cell requires institute-level admissions to follow the prescribed admission rules and merit process.
