Can poor eating habits affect height growth in children? My son is 10 yrs old but his height is not growing. Could it be due to some nutritional deficiency? He is not eating veggies, egg or meat. He only like selective food. Can cycling help improve growth? My husband are over 5.5 ft but our son is 3 ft 5 inches only.

Ans: Are you sure your 10 year old son's height is only 3.5 feet which is only a little over 100cm? If yes, please see a pediatric endocrinologist to investigate further.

Ans: It depends on the height of other family members like parents, uncles, grandparents . Also has he developed any signs of puberty? This sudden growth spurt usually indicates start of puberty and final height is generally an average of parental heights. To determine whether this is part of pubertal growth spurt, bone x-rays are advised.

Ans: Please consult an endocrinologist to rule out Gigantism which is a growth hormone overplay.
This also could be due to familial /hereditary condition

Ans: What is your height and your wife's height. Accordingly he would between your mean height as Mid parental height
Activities like jumping, swimming and hanging fro. Bars are good to gain maximum height within the growth period.

My son who is going to be 17 years old in December 2024 is still not gaining height. both me and my husband are 5'5" and 5'7". But he has niether grown facial hair nor is gaining height. we are very much worried. he does not get time for much physical activities as he is preparing for JEE and is in 12th standard.

Ans: Onset of puberty depends on many factors. There may be a history of familial delayed puberty. His pediatrician would have charted his height increments till now and would be able to tell you if it is in the normal range or if tests are required.

Ans: OMS (All India) with JEE Main 92.76 percentile:

(1) COEP: Low (only lower branches may be possible).
(2) VJTI: Very low.
(3) SPIT: Low–Moderate Chances are there for core branches.
(4) PICT: Moderate chances are there for core branches.
(5) DJ Sanghvi: Chances are there for core branches.

Respected sir.. Please give your valuable opinion regarding PES CSE ELECTRONIC CITY and PICT CSE

Ans: Preference order may be: PICT CSE > PES University (Electronic City) CSE. Basically, both are strong options. PICT has a stronger academic reputation, better ROI, and excellent placements, while PES offers a better campus experience and industry exposure in Bengaluru.
