I'm 29, recently diagnosed with PCOS. I work full-time and don't have time for fancy recipes or gym workouts. What simple food and lifestyle changes should I start with to get my periods back on track and control weight?

Ans: PCOS affects many women in their 20s and 30s, and small, consistent changes can make a big impact. Eat high-fiber foods like oats, lentils, beans, chia seeds, vegetables, lean proteins like eggs, tofu, chicken, greek yogurt, healthy fats like avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil, etc. Avoid refined carbs, sugary drinks, processed foods, etc. Have a regular exercise regime. Getting your periods on track may take a while. Track your cycle, symptoms, and energy levels to notice improvements. If periods remain irregular after 3–6 months, consider consulting a gynecologist or endocrinologist for further support.

Hi to the health expert(gynaecologist), I am a 24yr old lady working in an MNC with moderate work stress. I've pcos since i m 14 yrs old. I matured at the age of 11. I m a second daughter to my parents. During my teenage(5'4 height , weighed between 47-50kg , watery body with no muscle or bone mass), since i was too ambitious about getting a job and working hard in my studies, i didn't focus on eating well enough. I never skipped my meals or ate any kind of outside food(not even chips or biscuits). It's just that i am mostly stressed due to studies and eat only till my stomach says i m full. I didn't workout or ate enough protein till 22yrs old. Since last year , i m starting to look online and doctors suggestion regarding pcos and started taking care of my nutrition, lifestyle. Currently from the recent checkups I found out that have B12 and D3 deficiencies. Other than PCOS, my thyroid, insulin, prolactin, testosterone, female hormones, lipid profile etc.., everything is good. Currently, my height is 5'4, weight is 55kg, mostly water body with average muscle in legs atleast. I m focusing to take dry fruits , enough protein(eggs, dal, paneer, chicken) in my diet, along with working out atleast 3-4 times a week, sleeping peacefully. Getting periods between every 30-50 days. I m at the start of the journey to improve my health and nutritional deficiencies. I m not sure when I'll be married or gonna plan kids. Please advise me on how much time my body may take for regularising the periods since my body was irregular for 10yrs and how to understand if my health is good for child planning. Please advise me regarding any additional care required.
Ans: History noted. Taking into consideration your age of 24, with Pcos with consistently irregular periods, vitamin D and B12 deficiency, and stress factor as the prime motivator in your studies
Following advises: 1) You can continue taking low-dose ORAl contraceptive pills for a few months if you have irregular periods.
2) To prevent withdrawal bleeding, take progesterone-only pills if your periods last longer than six weeks. 3) To cure deficiencies in vitamins, B12 and D, take 60 k of vitamin D once a week for 12 weeks. For three months, both
4) PCO supplements that include metformin, melatonin, myoionositol, and chiroioinositol 5) Changes in lifestyle: 45-minute walk every day. Zumba, yoga, meditation, and more. 6) 7 to 8 hours of restful sleep 7) Diet: proteins (eggs, paneer, dal, and pulses) and green vegetables, Fruits with color, Dehydrated fruits. For omega-3 fatty acids, flax seeds
Taking fertility health into account tests for amh levels and specific hormones, such as TSH, prolactin, fasting insulin, and HbA1c, can be performed. To maintain your fertility, you can also proceed with freezing your eggs.

Financial Planner, MF, Insurance Expert - Answered on Nov 10, 2025

Money
Hi, I'm 49 married with 2 kids aged 16 and 11. I work in mid mgmt in a Finance co. Wife is 45 works at a Bank. Combined annual salary is 80 lakhs. Live in a home which just got loan free. Have a rental income of 40k monthly that my wife gets. Mom also lives with us and she gets a rental income of 45k per month. I have invested in a small office space which will be ready by mid 2027 and has a construction linked plan, have to pay 40L more. I Have stocks of 45L and EPF of 60L PPF of 12 L. Have ancestral property in land at native place not much but say 25L. Mom has pledged 50% of her assets to my sister. Liability of office and company car is 6L. School fees and tution fees are paid from rental income and wife chips in. There's maintenance, club membership fees, insurance, repairs and maintenance, kids pocket money, groceries, internet, mobile, maids etc. which I pay. I'm thinking of quitting my job and starting something on my own. I am a guest lecturer at a college which is pro bono and also helping 2 Startups of friends over weekend with a tiny equity stake in one. Is it a right decision? Pressure at work is high, growth chances are minimum. Many colleagues asked to go. The environment isn't very encouraging. Pls advise if I'm ok financially with about 45 lakhs liability. Never got a chance to save as EMIs were 75% of income. I'm unable to get a direction.
Ans: You are 49, with a stable dual-income family, home loan cleared, and some investments in place. You feel stagnated in your job and want to start something of your own. It’s a natural and valid thought at this life stage — but the decision needs to be planned, not impulsive.

At present, your financial base is decent but not fully liquid. You still have about ?45 lakh in liabilities, upcoming education costs for your children, and limited cash reserves. Your wife’s job and rental income can sustain household expenses, but not much beyond that.

The wise move is to continue your job while you explore your business or investment idea part-time. Use the next 18–24 months to:

Clear pending loans, especially the office property.

Build a minimum ?20–25 lakh emergency corpus.

Fund your children’s education separately.

Test and refine your business idea alongside your job.

Before quitting, also discuss openly with your spouse whether she is comfortable with you stepping away from a steady income. Her emotional and financial comfort will determine how smooth your transition is.

In short:
Keep your job, continue your startup or investing interest part-time, strengthen your finances, and plan a structured exit once liabilities are cleared. Freedom feels best when it’s backed by security, not uncertainty.
