Career

Respected Sir, I am 50 years old with 29 years of EPC and hydrocarbon project experience. I hold DME (1996), B.Tech (2008, JNTU Hyderabad) and a company-sponsored PGPX Management Education Programme from IIM Ahmedabad. I would like to know if I can pursue a Ph.D. in Management or Construction/Project Management without an MBA. How should I prepare for it considering my heavy job pressure? Will the Ph.D. require extensive studying, and how feasible is it while handling high-stress projects? Will it support my career growth or simply fulfill a personal aspiration, and what are the expected fees and timelines?

Ans: Some colleges may accept your for PhD considering you have enough work ex after Engg. There are part time PhD courses which you can pursue even while working and it is possible to do it within 3 to 4 years. Fees could vary from 4 lakhs to 15+ lakhs for the entire PhD course. Not sure it will help your career unless you are looking at getting into teaching line.
