I got WBJEE rank 27918 with obc 2700 and TFW 6188.Would I get any government engeneering college with core branch?

Ans: Joy, With an overall WBJEE rank of 27918, an OBC-A rank of 2700 and a TFW rank of 6188, admission to top government engineering colleges in core branches is unlikely except in niche seats, but mid-tier government and reputable private institutes remain viable options. Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology’s B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering closed at a last-round rank of 3165 in 2024, making CSE possible under OBC at GCECT. Kalyani Government Engineering College’s Electronics and Electrical Engineering seats for OBC-A closed around 3000-5000, offering realistic admission in EE. Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College’s Mechanical Engineering for OBC-A closed between 5000-7500, providing a probable seat in ME. Cooch Behar Government Engineering College’s Civil Engineering OBC-A cutoff extended to 37544 in Round 2, making CE accessible via general quota. Among private institutes, Narula Institute of Technology’s CSE TFW cutoff was 7409-9202, aligning with the TFW rank. Siliguri Institute of Technology’s CSE (AI & ML) TFW cutoff reached 33824-35538, matching TFW eligibility. Haldia Institute of Technology’s Electrical Engineering TFW cutoff was 34339-35964, making EE an option. Heritage Institute of Technology’s CSE OBC-A cutoff stood at 11000-13500, and IEM Kolkata’s CSE OBC-A cutoff ranged from 8500-11000. Techno India Salt Lake’s ECE OBC-A cutoff was 14500-17500, fitting within the OBC-A rank parameters. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

My wbjee rank gmr is 14,869 and my category Obc-A is 820 and Tfw rank 2980 .Will I get any government college with cse branch?
Ans: With a WBJEE General Merit Rank of 14,869, an OBC-A category rank of 820, and a TFW rank of 2980, admission into a government college for the competitive CSE branch appears highly improbable. Jadavpur University, the premier government institute, closes CSE admissions around an OBC-A rank of 250 and a general rank near 120, far below these ranks. Other government colleges like Kalyani Government Engineering College and Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College also have closing ranks for CSE and allied branches typically below 4000 in OBC categories, which is beyond the current rank thresholds. The TFW category for CSE in government colleges usually admits ranks better than 1500 to 2000. However, ranks in the current range can access reputed private colleges such as Heritage Institute of Technology with OBC-A CSE cutoffs around 11,000 to 13,500, Institute of Engineering & Management Kolkata with cutoffs near 8,500 to 11,000, and Techno India Salt Lake, where CSE cutoffs range between 14,000 and 17,000. Other private colleges like the Academy of Technology and B.P. Poddar Institute present opportunities in CSE and IT branches with fairly good placement, ranging from 70 to 85 percent over recent years. Some government colleges such as Ramkrishna Mahato Government Engineering College may offer admission in ECE or other branches with relatively less competitive cutoffs. The likelihood of obtaining a CSE seat in a government college is low, but strong chances exist in prestigious private institutions known for consistent placement performance. The best course of action is to prioritize private colleges for CSE admission while considering alternative branches in government colleges or preparing to improve ranks for future attempts to secure government college seats. This approach balances access to quality education and long-term career prospects effectively. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!
