I'm an NRI PCB + AI student (17F) who feels like I have no ambition in life ..I took this stream of my own volition as I was and am still interested in biology and chemistry but never planned on doing NEET (I didn't want to do medical). As I near the end of 12th grade I feel even more uncertain about what lies ahead. I thought after writing any private universities entrance exam, I would do a Bsc and then a Masters after completing that in a field like Biotech, Bioinformatics, Molecular biology or any related field ( I can't even narrow that down yet) but I feel discouraged after going through several threads on Reddit where such fields were frankly not very well liked for its scope in India. (I'm open to earning a degree in AI and ML as well since there is an available course in a uni where I live ). I'm also regretfully really out of touch with the youth culture (owing to my lack of friends there ) so the prospect of relocating for my studies seems more than daunting as an introvert when it comes with the added doubt of whether it`ll even be worth it . Due to financial constraints I dont have the privilege of switching career paths or choosing a top level college and it already feels like I'm setting myself up for failure by aiming for either the affordable colleges in my country of residence or private unis in either Bangalore or Chennai. I want a stable job that's well paid for the work and passion I put in it but it seems so impossible with the cards I've laid out for myself so far..Is it too late to make a difference in my career trajectory and what paths would the respected experts on this site recommend for me so that I can hopefully land a job after my bachelors and be able to fund higher education as well as settle abroad or live a relatively comfortable life at least. Thank you so much for taking time to read this , I will greatly appreciate all responses I get

Ans: Hey, you are not late at all @ 17; you are supposed to be uncertain.

Your interest in biology and chemistry is already a useful starting point; you don't need to decide between biotech, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and AI/ML today. Given your financial constraints, I would prioritize a bachelor’s degree that gives you employable skills after graduation, while keeping higher studies open: for example, Bioinformatics/Computational Biology can combine your PCB background with programming, statistics, and AI, whereas a pure Biology degree may require a Master's/PhD for many specialised careers.

If you genuinely enjoy mathematics/programming, AI/ML is another viable route, but don't choose it merely because Reddit says it has better scope. Whichever degree you choose, build practical skills alongside it: Python, statistics, SQL, data analysis, scientific computing, internships, and projects, and judge colleges by curriculum, affordability, internships, and placement outcomes, not reputation alone. Being introverted or anxious about relocating is not a career disadvantage; university is also where you can gradually build your social and professional circle. Most importantly, your first degree is not a life sentence: a sensible, affordable bachelor's + strong skills + work experience can give you the income and flexibility to fund a Master's later, including abroad.

Good luck.

Career
I'm at a point in life where nothing seems too clear, i dont know what I'm doing. I was an just above average student, passed +2 long time ago in 2017, after that kept arguing with mother that I don't wanna do the job that was offered to me as "dependent" after my father had passed away , my younger brother joined that later Till than i was doing BSC had no interest, dropped out of it, and just for sake of doing graduation graduated with BA in economics, at that time i got into doing various tech stuff ( making some small apps etc ). I tried harder to get into it but india is cruel and I'm average...... So i decided to enroll in MCA last year in a tier 3 private college with almost non existing placement Mistake after mistake after mistake.... Now you all know the state of job market... They say its getting harder for the freshers. Been applying for internships on intershala and other websites but still here with no internship. After this much setbacks even my interest is now like - okay it's just a chore, i have stopped enjoying any programing or anything, i still like it i wouldn't say i enjoy it... I don't even know what am i doing with life, where will i end up. Sometimes my worry is whether i will be able to even make any money or not. I have no desire to join any government job... Just pushing into up skilling, but setback after setback, is forcing me to accept that nobody is going to give a job that too as a fresher in private sector to an old stupid 25 year old unemployed man.
Ans: you're not stupid. You’re just trying to navigate a really chaotic system with very little support and a late start. That’s not a crime — it’s human.

Choose a micro-niche within tech
Instead of being a generalist programmer, pick something very specific and practical. Examples:
Web Development for local businesses
No-code/Low-code app building
Automation with Python
WordPress + SEO services
Data analysis with Excel + Python for NGOs
Freelance bug fixing / debugging

Career
Namaste..This is my story. My name is Prateek Kumar and I am 19. I am very confused in my life regarding my career choices. I passed my class 12 in 2025 from CBSE board PCB stream. Till class 10, I did not know anything about what to choose after going to class 11 and what career scope is there in which thing. I was very confused for many days in the beginning whether I should take PCM, PCB or Commerce? I asked everyone, and everyone had their own advice. Finally, When the last date for registration came, something had to be decided ,after listening to my family and friends, I took the PCB, because everyone said it was the safest. There are many more reasons I myself don't know why I chose PCB stream. My confusion did not end, rather, I started exploring more and more career options and started knowing about them on the internet and everywhere. Gradually my personality started making me a multiple interested person and I became interested in many things. I started to feel that I have the potential and I can do any work, but there is no clarity, I want to be sure once so I did that work with full concentration. Although I had taken medical stream, gradually I got attracted towards engineering, technology, business, IITs, NITs. I don't know what the reason was for this, it could be social media influence or the people around me were my friends. Gradually I started getting interested in things like law, business, finance, economics, statistics, MBA, aviation AI, machine learning, data science etc. Even after passing class 12, I was applying for the online AI and Data Science program of IIT Jodhpur but I did not have maths so I could not eligible. I started feeling that I don't have maths and that's why I am missing out on all these options. But I wasn't sure. I firmly decided that I would take math and prepare for the JEE, hoping to at least get into the NIT. But I came to know that I will not be eligible with single subject maths, for that I should have marksheet of 5 subjects from one proper board with PCM. I was afraid to take that step again to get the 75% criteria to study for Class 12, so I didn't take that step to do math again. But I was so scared, I felt that if I choose this path then the other options will be lost and then I will regret it and hence I could not take any decision. Since after I passed class 12 , I thought of taking a gap of one year to figure out which direction I want to go and which career I want to choose. But unfortunately that year was wasted due to a lot of instability like death of my grandmother and financial problems at home and many more. There was some negligence on my part too. I had gone too much into my comfort zone, Movies and travelling had become too much. This is also a main reason for my gap year getting wasted. Last when January 2026 came and the form for CUET came, I became serious, I thought that I should study and I started preparing for CUET. But I didn't know which course I was preparing for because I didn't know what I wanted to do. I also enrolled at UP Polytechnic for diploma in engineering and pharmacy. Due to lack of preparation, I didn't score well. I scored 347 out of 1250 on the CUET. I applied to a few universities with that score but I didn't know the courses, so I applied to all the courses in which I had even a little interest and were related to my stream.Like bsc biology related courses like bsc biotechnology, biomedical, microbiology, b pharma and also non biology courses like ba economics, political science, bca, and it was here that I became interested in courses like BA LLB If I tell you the truth, I started feeling like doing B.Tech like B.Tech biotechnology, biomedical engineering, mechanical civil and then architecture. I felt like doing MBA, so I wanted to do courses like B.Sc. Hons. Statistics or B.Sc. Hons. Economics. I was interested in top government jobs like IAS, IFS, and RBI. At that point, I was very very confused. I did not get admission in all those courses on the basis of that score of my CUET and even if I was getting admission, I was not able to take it from because I felt that I was still not clear about What do I want to do, which career field should I go into? I feel that I have potential, but I just don't have clarity and satisfaction about which direction to take. One of my friends is preparing for NEET, one is preparing for UPSC, two of my friends have gone to IIT, one wants to make a career in trading, one wants to do coding and one wants to become a doctor. Everyone knows what to do in their life, only I don't know anything. Many people suggested me to get admission in BA or B.Sc here in my village and prepare for government job but I did not want to study here. The truth is that I don't know what I want to do. I did not take admission anywhere this year either, neither in any college, nor in D Pharma, nor in Polytechnic. All my friends are doing something or the other, either preparation or college, but I am not able to decide anything. The thing is, I don't even know which direction to take or what my career goals are. I look at the people around me and see that everyone has some kind of aim or direction. I have not been able to decide anything yet. Today it has been 1.5 years since I passed class 12 and yet I haven't been able to make any decisions. Sometimes I think about adding math, maybe it will open up more options. But still, I can't tell myself what to do. It's getting worse and worse for me. Time is just passing by, but I'm not doing anything. Sometimes I worry so much. I feel a lot of anxiety from within about not doing anything, please help. I'm stuck in decision paralysis analysis. I have a lot of procrastination and overthinking. I feel FOMO. It seems everyone is happy with their decisions and moving forward, but I'm the only one seeking perfection. What should I do? Which career should I pursue? Many options are slowly closing, and the regret of not taking them is immense. So much regret that I sometimes feel like crying just thinking about it. I had thought that I would add maths after class 12, but due to the same analysis paralysis, perfectionism and need for clarity, I did nothing till date. And I regret it too, but still I am not able to take even a single step. Please help sir, anyone please help.I don't want a life where I always live in dissatisfaction and regret. I want to explore and experience a lot. But I can't figure out what to do. Whenever I think about making a decision, the rest seem right, while the one I've made seems wrong. What should I do, please help me because no one is able to understand this, neither my family nor my friends...
Ans: Prateek, your main challenge is decision paralysis driven by a desire to avoid making the wrong choice, often intensified by the vast amount of conflicting information online. It's natural to seek certainty, but comparing your journey to others can obscure your unique strengths and potential. To move forward constructively, consider shortlisting three realistic pathways you qualify for right now—such as Pharmacy, BCA, or Law. Over the next two weeks, you can gain practical insights by reaching out to professionals on LinkedIn rather than continuing endless online research, with the goal of committing to a concrete enrollment decision by the end of next month. Finding a "perfect" career immediately is not necessary; choosing a reasonable direction and testing it through action will help build the clarity you need. If the pressure of making this decision feels too overwhelming or significantly impacts your daily well-being, please prioritize speaking with a qualified professional for guidance. Workplace Expert - Answered on Oct 06, 2026

What should an employee do if the person they are supposed to report harassment or discrimination to is actually the same person involved in the problem? For example, suppose a senior manager regularly makes inappropriate comments about an employee’s appearance or background, and the employee wants to complain, but the company’s usual process says that concerns should first be reported to that manager. In such a situation, the employee may feel stuck because going directly to the same person doesn’t feel safe or comfortable. What alternative channels should an employee look for, such as HR, a higher-level manager, an internal complaints committee or an ethics helpline? Also, how can someone raise the concern professionally while protecting themselves from possible retaliation or further workplace problems?
Ans: Dear

I am sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time. Nonetheless there is a way to handle this.

If you have ethics helpline use that, these are supposed to be anonymous and managed by third party who are independent company.

You can also approach the complaints committee but before escalating to the committee please talk to your managers manager along with the HR and take them in confidence.

Maintain your calm, structure your conversation on issues and backed with evidence (what was said when) and most important of all avoid personal attacks or name calling.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Warm Regards

Dating, Relationships Expert - Answered on Oct 06, 2026

Relationship
My wife's sister's husband has become very friendly with me over the last few years. We meet often at family functions and sometimes talk separately about our personal lives. In the beginning, I was comfortable sharing things with him because I thought we had a good understanding. But slowly, I feel he has started asking too many questions about my marriage and my relationship with my wife. He sometimes asks about our arguments, our private matters and how we handle things at home. At the same time, he also shares many personal details about his own marriage with me, including problems and things that I feel are too private. Sometimes I don’t know how to respond, because I don’t want to encourage him to discuss such personal matters, but I also don’t want him to feel that I am avoiding him or judging him. Because we are family, I am worried that if I suddenly create distance or tell him directly to stop asking personal questions, it could create awkwardness between both families. I also don’t want my wife to feel that I am hiding something from her or that there is some problem between us.
Ans: Dear Anonymous,
I understand your concerns. You don't have to directly confront him about sharing too many personal details or asking you questions, nor do you need to create distance. The sweet spot is to build a gentle boundary. For instance, when he asks you something personal, instead of avoiding the question, just answer vaguely, like, "yes, things are going good" or "Nothing major. You know, routine married life stuff." This way, he will soon lose interest. And when he shares personal information with you, you can simply listen without offering any advice or asking follow-up questions. The conversation will die down on its own. This way, he will neither feel like you are avoiding a conversation with him nor believe that you are encouraging him to get up close and personal with you.

Most importantly, do not hide this friendship from your wife. It's okay. Friends do share things with each other at times and sometimes one person might feel burdened with too many information after a while. These are natural courses of a friendship. The important thing is that you are being considerate of your marriage and want to create a boundary. You can do that without being misunderstood or losing a friend.

Hope this helps.

Mutual Funds, Financial Planning Expert - Answered on Oct 06, 2026

Money
Dear Sir/ Mam, My son is 28 years old. Should I buy a Term Insurance Policy for him? If so, suggest me name of Good policy and the suitable amount to be invested . rgds,
Ans: At age 28, taking term insurance can be considered, especially if your son has started earning and has financial responsibilities.

However, the policy should ideally be taken by your son himself. The need depends on his income, liabilities and dependants.

– If he has a home loan or other liabilities, adequate cover becomes more important.

– If parents, spouse or children depend on his income, insurance becomes even more relevant.

– If he is unmarried and has no financial dependants, the immediate need may be lower, but taking cover at a younger age can still be cost-effective.

» How much cover?

Do not decide the cover only based on his age.

Consider:

– Current annual income.

– Existing loans and liabilities.

– Financial support required by dependants.

– Future family responsibilities.

– Existing life insurance, if any.

A broad starting point can be around 10–15 times annual income, but the final cover should be based on his actual financial situation.

» Who should pay the premium?

Ideally, your son should own the policy and pay the premium.

This keeps the policy connected with his income and financial responsibilities.

You can certainly help him with the premium if required.

» Which policy?

I would not suggest a particular insurance company or policy without knowing his income, liabilities, health, smoking status and existing insurance.

Instead, compare established insurers on:

– Claim settlement record.

– Solvency and financial strength.

– Policy exclusions and conditions.

– Premium for the required tenure.

– Claim servicing quality.

Avoid buying an insurance policy merely because somebody promises investment returns or other benefits along with the insurance.

For a pure protection requirement, a simple term insurance policy is generally easier to understand.

» Final Insights

At 28, your son has a good opportunity to put proper protection in place before his financial responsibilities increase.

The important point is to decide the required cover first and then compare suitable policies.

Hi experts I am raising the query on behalf of my son:- My son is doing his Final BCom(F&A)with Christ Bangalore- Also completed CA-Inter and undergoing internship at Bangalore. My query is:- a.With B.Com-CA-Inter- what is the job scope in India? b.Any chance to get Overseas placements- If yes- which country is preferable and how to proceed for job search. c.Any further courses needs to be completed along with B.Com-CA-? Submitted for your kind perusal and advice please. Thanks Srikanth
Ans: With B.Com + CA-Inter, there are good opportunities in India in audit, taxation, financial reporting, FP&A, internal audit and finance/shared-services roles. For overseas opportunities, it is better to focus on completing CA first. UAE can be a good starting option, while Singapore offers opportunities with MNCs; the UK, Canada and Australia can also be explored based on qualification and work-visa requirements. The ideal strategy would be to complete CA, gain 2–3 years of relevant experience with a Big 4 firm or reputed company, and then explore overseas opportunities through ICAI, LinkedIn, company career pages and internal transfers within MNCs. After CA, he can consider ACCA for international accounting, CFA for investment/finance roles, US CPA for US-focused accounting/MNCs, or shorter courses in IFRS, Advanced Excel, Power BI and SAP, depending on his career goals. If CA Final gets delayed, he can take up a suitable private-sector role in audit, taxation or financial analysis while continuing CA. ACCA, CMA or CS can also be considered after checking exemptions. If he prefers government employment, exams such as SSC CGL/AAO and RBI Grade B can be explored. Maintaining an active LinkedIn profile and setting relevant job alerts will also help him understand current hiring trends, skill requirements and opportunities and make informed short- and long-term career decisions.
